You should just be able to make a jump from the outdoor walkway along the edge of the church to the factory ledge, then mantle up. Make sure you jump before the roof slopes downward.
No way, tried again around 30 times and I always die. Never played something so frustrating as this fan mission, couldn't you make the walls nearer? It's a pity, because the design is wonderful... it's the gameplay that sucks. Walls way too high, spaces too wide onto jump and no decent hints. This mission needs a well detailed walkthough for sure.

Alternatively you can get onto the roof courtyard of the castle on the other side by going through the room full of crates above the shops, and across rooftops - and then jump to the other side of the factory from one of the crenelations, though this is a harder jump.
If that is an even harder jump I'll neither dare to try it then... :erg:

Linda, do you have newdark mantling turned on? I don't recall this jump being tricky, but several of the jumps are literally impossible without newdark mantling (not sure about this one in particular).

There is a walkthrough linked earlier in this thread from Ricebug: (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147498&page=12) , though it's unlikely to help with jumps.
Definitely worth double checking that new_mantle is on, there are places you can get stuck if not.
Here's a video - this is the easier jump to get to this building:

If you're still struggling and new_mantle is on, not sure what else to suggest! The jumping/climbing/parkour stuff is meant to be part of the challenge in this level.

Every time I play this mission I discover something else. I know it has probably been pointed out already. But when I was near the museum I saw the guard take a leak off the ledge. Probably killed the guard below. lol
This is one of my all time favorite missions

Thanks nicked;
Had a wonderful time moving bodies and booby trapping the detectives desks. I left a bigger mystery then I solved with a lot of corpses. Getting all the loot was a hassle but that's life.

Just finished now: 7 hours and 36 of campaign!! Never felt so distressed all the years playing fan missions as this one. Totally non-intuitive and impossible to solve independently, looked like appositely made for the users of this forum, looking for the solution or asking for help. No way that should be completed without reading explicit solutions. Too tricky and too scripted. The new_mantle thing was never mentioned anywhere before this post... It should be well written on the first post of this thread or in the fan mission readme file. You'll avoid to people a lot of swearing...
It's a no replay for me, I'd give it a 4/10, points gained only by the great design; in rooftops also the scenario was complete, with an awesome landscape, things rarely present in other missions, even the original ones. But I'd completely review the gaming/scripting making it more accessible and giving to the story more sense, without all those mandatory impossible to solve obstacles and that tricky part where
Faramund gave instructions to his lover to reveal the Gastrule incriminating records... Something like a magical key appeared the first time activating the spell to open a hidden spot or a vault would have more sense... Only her lover knew all of those events, so just one was enough. Making her go continuously forth and back doesn't have much sense...

That is a recent change made by Ricebug. His walkthroughs have been removed from where they were before. It is quite possible that the walkthroughs were still present when the author of that post wrote it.

The problem with new_mantle is that it has become an inofficial standard with NewDark. It is already activated automatically with many methods of installing NewDark. Therefore, many people don't even think about it any more - myself included.
"Behind Closed Doors" was not an easy mission for some players, as it was apparently meant for people actively searching a large cityscape for points of entry, and detecting "possibilities" in the progress. What could be done with some things found was really not apparent at first, but in several cases, it became rather easy-to-see later on. Such missions always have a tipping point for me: When I really, really don't find what I need, and also have no idea where on a large map it could be, then things flip to the not-so-funny side. But I must admit that it most likely is very difficult for any author to see what people will find out easily and what they will most likely miss or overlook even on the second encounter. For me, this mission was a positive experience in the end, although there were some parts of it which I didn't like so much.

Sorry you didn't like the mission! Can't always please everyone. :)
new_mantle was clearly mentioned in the readme though...

The original games didn't have much of the vertical style you see in this mission or in other author's (especially from someone like skacky) so I can see why some people would not find playing it very intuitive. You have to train yourself to look for places to climb, little bits of wood you can rope to, and consider windows that may be openable or may just be open up in the air out of plain reach and think about how to reach them.
