Thank you for that clarification ;)
I always look in the goal-files, so I am sure I don´t miss any interesting objectives or easter eggs. Too often some cool effects and other author´s work in the FMs is not noticed... :(

In other news, my other big unfinished mission, "Wicked Relics" is the "mansion that would have been."
I'm looking forward to be playing Wicked Relics (whenever it gets released). Good luck with the betatesting!

And now you know a little of the "darkside" of mission design ... all the cool stuff that doesn't quite make it to the final mission due to time constraints and technical issues
Thanks for the insight. It's always interesting to know what goes on "behind the scene". I know how it's like to think up cool stuff and then realizing it can't be done.

I don't know how other people do it, but my mission designs tend to develop very organically (i.e. randomly). I typically start with a basic idea or scenario that makes me think, "Oh cool! I want to make that!" and then develop additional areas and plot twists as I go along, often in response to finding the limits of what I can accomplish in DromEd.
In the case of Bloodmist Tower, I was playing around with water brushes and discovered how to make lava. From there, I thought, "Wouldn't it be neat to make a mission set on an island in the middle of a sea of lava?":D Not very Thief-like, I know, but I enjoy mystical and magical stuff, as anyone who has played my missions will discover quickly. I was a little disappointed to learn just how limited DromEd's ability to render a sea of *anything* really was ... but I soldiered on. I liked the idea of a mage's tower in the middle of the lava because it gave me an excuse to put more magic in the mission as well as providing a potential explanation for how the player wound up in such a strange locale.
This was way back when I was first learning how to use DromEd so I wasn't as familiar with its limitation or its possibilities as I am now. For instance, I didn't know how to make a functioning portal that teleports the player to a new location. In an early version of the mission, I had the player climb a particle rope up through a portal in the ceiling of the mage's tower and out into the basement of the monkeys' tower. The two towers were stacked on top of each other in DromEd space. It was hilariously absurd, really. I eventually took it out after falling to my death one too many times. :tsktsk:
The mansion was added on later to provide a little backstory and to give the player a small dose of normalcy before I thrust them into the weirdness. All the little tidbits, bonuses, and amusing side stories were added on as I went, typically when random ideas came to me while playing through the mission for the umpteenth time. The very last addition I made, the day before release, was to put carrots in front of Mr Fluffy and set up his vicious attack on the player's fingers. I love that one! :cheeky:
Just be glad my younger sister previews my levels ... she's talked me out of a few very bad design choices over the years. Sometimes I get a little too evil for my own good when it comes to setting up surprises for the unsuspecting player . . . :ebil:

Neither link works for me, but maybe Komag is down - is there anywhere else to get the file? Sounds like everyone really likes it.
