OK, maybe I'll give it a little more of a try since you said I don't have to go back down unless I wanted to (which I don't), I'll see if I can get past it without too many reloads! :D
Yes, I was aware that it was possible to fight with Hammers (if you don't alert anyone outside before you get in that shed). I also know from reading this thread, that there is a Haunt that stands by a door, that apparently needs to be killed in order to get by, but that alerts others so you have to run in order to escape by finding the right house/door/get to an upstairs area to be safe enough till they go away. Bah...so again that might be a bit too much for me. :( I'll just have to see when and if I get that far!
I guess you probably know already, there is a BH part 2 and if you go for it...Good Luck! :D

I felt rather proud of myself in the way I managed to get rid of both Haunts in the area of the Sword...until I shot down a moss arrow to stifle my drop-down and to prevent possible added damage. Here's the bug:
When I shot down my moss arrow, part of it landed on the sword and covered it...objective ticked off "found sword" but no sword anywhere. I dropped down and clicked all over that area but none of it showed up for me to frob...it had just absolutely dissappeared! Grrrr, so I had no choice but to reload (and then probably won't get the same results with the Haunts) as it never works out the same way on reloads.
My method with those Haunts...I first thought I'd try my one only Flash bomb on the undead to see if it would finish it off and make my drop-down behind that first Haunt easier to get the sword..but it didn't seem to do anything to it. However, it did draw the Haunt out of the tunnel and into the area of the other Haunt. In an opportune moment I shot one of my two fire arrows at the one that came from the tunnel...then as the two of them searched and both headed into the tunnel, I shot my second fire arrow kindof between them and managed to kill both! :D I didn't save it cause I wasn't sure what would happen next. I waited to see if I would get more company but none showed up so that's when I shot my moss arrow down and discovered what had taken place after that...and yes it was there after killing the two Haunts so it didn't go anywhere. Only after I shot my moss arrow, it took a hike somewhere down underground. :( Curses ##@%%@!

i didn't need to use moss arrows when i dropped down
i just crept slowly to the edge & dropped off
i noticed though that part of the time when i jumped to get back onto the ledge right behind the haunt it didn't become alerted!
maybe another bug?
but it worked out for me anyways :p
so maybe u can try doing the same thing without the moss arrows, that way u don't lose the sword :erg:
btw, i used fire arrows too :D

I finally collected my resolve and went back to finish the FM. It was very good, full of the kind of tension you get in Return to the Cathedral. Maybe it is the cramped spaces and omnipresent enemies that do it?

My problem with this particular FM is that the FM author expected you to fight a hoard of zombies and yet...NOT ONE fire arrow or flash bomb in Garrett's bag by the hammer! I was able to pick up TWO of each by sneaking around, but it just got fustrating after awhile.
It simply makes it hard for the player when it does not have to be.
This mission had the most undead I have ever seen, yet the FM author decides to give you so little equipment to fight them with. To me that is COMPLETELY RETARDED!
And I have been all OVER that map and KNOW what equipment you get. Not a lot, for what he is asking you to do!
Maybe some people like to sneak past a hoard of zombies and undead. But it would have been nice if the FM author would have given more equipment and let the PLAYER DECIDE how they wanted to play this FM.
As for me, I will never again, this was just hard when it did not have to be!
I remember reading about an armory somewhere, but I never could find the stupid thing!

Having played The Lost Crusade I looked up this earlier work by the author (from 15 years ago). I finished on 200/600 loot and went back to get it up to 550 (on Normal). It was very challenging (for me at least) and not my favourite sort of mission at all (lots of haunts etc).
Reading this thread, plus the (
https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103018) original thread for version 1, it seems there was some lively posting and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. Of itself the mission is tough. Coupled with the bits where it could have benefited from beta-testing, and new mantle getting me into places I clearly shouldn’t be (and back again) it made it even more challenging. :D
I guess an FM brings together two parties, the author who expresses his/her creative side, giving up time, energy, effort and rightfully taking pride in their work and a player who gives up much less time and expects to be entertained. Neither side have to do it. I too certainly got annoyed with inconsistencies, even at the very end where I had to get round problems the author hadn’t intended nor anticipated. Nevertheless I stayed (and even went back for more) because the author’s creativity was very clear to see. It’s a mission that keeps on giving and a huge amount of time must have been invested. I don’t believe the author visits anymore but, belatedly,
well done. I enjoyed it.
