For those of you having crash problems in the lava area, D/L
(http://www.ricebug.net/temp/miss17.zip) this file and see if this helps. Simply drop it in your Thief 2 folder AFTER installing Crooked Town via DarkLoader. It will overwrite the existing file. Unfortunately, you will have to re-start the mission.
I think this should read "Simply
unzip it in your Thief 2 folder AFTER ...".;)

I stand corrected. :p

I have now tested the mission with the replaced miss17.mis on four computers, and there was not a single slowdown in the lava area. Looks like you managed to get rid of that bug, Ricebug.:thumb:
Most of the time, the red monster did not even fall down to where the fire burrick is (not even when I tried to lure them towards each other), but at least on one occasion, I found the red monster standing on the railway tracks when I returned from one of the side rooms there. The burrick approached, but just passed by the red monster, instead of attacking it. We're looking at a peaceful coexistence here.:cheeky:
I do not know whether you just ensured that both AIs didn't fight each other, or even made it harder for the red monster to get down to where the burrick patrols, but whatever you did seems to work perfectly. Congratulations!:D

Good. I'll re-package the zip with the updated file and post it. I just put the two AI on the same Team. Otherwise, even a level one alert can send the CPU into "anticipation" mode and things will start bogging down.

That reminds me of something... you might as well consider unpacking the zipped italian version of the mission files, which are present as italian.zip in the main directory of the archive, and then removing italian.zip. That way, italian support would be handled by Darkloader just like german, french or english support. Not possible with netherlands and russian support, though.
I'm not from Italy, so I would not benefit from this, but sometimes I'm a little perfectionist...;)

Will do.

I am also one of these nasty perfectionists.
May I request letter.str to be fixed ?
>>
The only clue I have is from a local guard, who claims to have seen them near the woods, an area that is off-limits. I'd suggest you start there.<<
The last sentence on the first page is missing due to a misplaced doublequote ;-)

This is such a great mission, but I'm stuck - where no-one else seems to have been. I'e been wandering the pagan village. Found the angel and the note about the poisoning.
But I haven't completed two objectives, and I don't know what to do now. I found one skeleton at the submerged town, but I haven't completed the 'find Elizabeth Chancey and her daughter' objective.
Nor can I find the Crooked Town!! I've tried to climb every cliff without success.
Please - really basic, stupid questions I know. :o
Ricebug on 5/2/2012 at 15:57
When you came across the two skeletons (Elizabeth & daughter), there is a scroll. Reading this completes the objective, find mother & daughter. If you failed to read the scroll, you'll have to backtrack. Also, a new objective will appear: Find evidence of who killed Mrs. Chancey & her daughter. This evidence is found in the pagan village.
You find Crooked Town when you get in the rowboat and move on to the second part of the mission.
