Heh heh, well at one point we considered having an additional goal to kill Lang, but at that point the ending was different and it made things... complicated. With the ending we wound up with, I suppose it would have worked fine since Garrett would have only dreamed that he killed Lang. Oh well.

How I thought it was going to end:
"So, how did you get away from the statues?"
"I didn't. Ha ha!"
'Garrett' turns into something very unpleasant and starts ripping off people's heads, etc

Or. .
Garrett could come back from the dead as a Thief-haunt and kill Lang then. . . that would make a sequel possible and perhaps add an interesting twist---you'd be thieving as a ghost and be able to slip through doors and such like you could in the shadow world only now, maybe your new goals would also include destroying the white lady--succeeding where the shadow keepers failed or something.
. . .er, rambledy ramble.I think I like Swiz's idea better, though.

For centuriesthe shadow keepers couldn't escape the shadow world. Their problem? Two portal gems, not even 100 ft away from each other. With all that time in their hands, what were they doing?!

Waiting for Garrett of course! :cheeky:

I knew someone would ask about this. My defense here, which was never presented through any narrative in the mission, is that
by the time they figured out what to do, they were too immaterial in the shadow world to be able to pick up the gems, or even do battle with the black widows. The idea is that the longer a "normal" creature stays there, the weaker and less corporeal they become. They needed to return to the true world to be able to effectively interact physically, and even then, as you saw, they didn't exactly revert completely to normal, due to their long time on the other side.I originally wanted them, once back in the true world, to
flicker between the shadow shapes and their true forms, and to turn completely true and solid when they died... but someone eated my cookie.Inline Image:

Odd, the doctor/refrigerator scene only seems to work if the "No CD" add-on is disabled.
