I decided to make a slow sweep of the place, and lo and behold or not, I found the key to the silver door behind a chair in the entrance hall.
This is a very good game. I would like to see more of j-t-b's work.

OK, found it! The hole is in the ceiling, just inside the double doors to the sitting room, a little to the left.
Tough loot goal on Expert - we are allowed to miss one 5g copper coinstack and nothing else.

Had to come here for a hint, I didn't know there was an attic area and needed more loot. Found that and mission complete!
1 Hour 9 Minutes to get Loot: 2006/2006 Pockets Picked 9/9 I also didn't identify the target at first but then was reminded by the note about Don't Kill The Wife and figured it was probably the guard wandering around nearby.
