to activate dark portal,[SPOILER]as soon as you enter the top area of dark portal look left along wall for button :) from door you enter area in[/SPOILER]

As for the shrine with the heart on the cross, you need to [SPOILER]look closely at the heart, there is a button on it that you need to hit with an arrow. [/SPOILER] The book gives you the hint. :cheeky:

Yes, there is. It's in the room in the Inn, right beside your other equipment. It's a hammer but it works like your BJ.

Arrgh. Can't get into the first tower. I thought that [SPOILER]placing the amulet on Dracula's tomb would give me access to a water key, but it doesn't appear to have done anything except tick off the objective and bring up the elemental shrines objective[/SPOILER]
Need a hint on how to proceed from here into the first tower.

OK after applying the new patch for 'older PCs' i've completed the mission with no problems.
Firstly i want to say WOW! the castle is one of the best things i've seem in a FM! :eek: Is it based on a real life location by any chance?
After i had stabbed the heart i went back downstairs to get back to the inn but the door was locked! what was up with that? had to quaff a slow fall potion to exit. And my god those 3 assassins, how many hitpoints did they have? not enough mind you, i managed to dispatch all 3 of them with my sword! :ebil: anyway enough boosting, once again great mission.
Does anything differ if i play on different difficulty settings? I remember one location that looked like it could be accessed, but which i couldn't.

i assume you frobbed the coffin lid and dropped the amulet inside the coffin proper. In that case go back to the darkthrone room and the water key will be there

Thank you very much for the fan mission Sensut . Missions like these are exactly why I keep Thief installed on my computer . As usual the scenery , custom AIs and sounds are all perfectly done . The game play runs along smoothly with interesting readables and logically placed objectives with just enough difficulty to make things interesting without the need to break up gameplay to make multiple forum visits . The Dracula series has been my favorite mission pack since Calendra's Legacy by a wide margin - two thumbs way up . :thumb: :thumb:
