I took a screenshot, but I don't know how to upload.
Get a site (Flickr.com or Picasa2, or one of the other free photo sites), post your picture there, then post the link here in your forum entry.

It doesn't go into your inventory, which can really throw you off. I've never heard of any bug with the cannister not being there. Could you have picked it up and dropped it somewhere else nearby? Perhaps if you have a recent save from before you entered the basement, you could load it up and check again.
If it doesn't show up in your inventory, I may have it already. How do I activate it at the stone wall?

Wow, I'm an idiot.
I started a new game and flashbombed my way to the basement to see where the can was, and holding it kicked my memory.
I had it before, but I didn't think it was important (I hadn't read the scroll) and I tossed it.
Now I have to search every square inch of flooded basement.
F***.

Read everything, and try to remember those that don't go in your inventory. And... this is important! Remember to stop in a safe place and READ the ones you do have in your inventory every once in a while. :)

Sage advice Blackman. It turns out that I had thrown the canister all the way across the room and it buried itself under a stack of crates. Took me about 15 minutes to find it.
D'oh!

Glad you found it. Too many of us get complacent, or just don't THINK thiefy enough and get in a rush. With the result -or a similar one- you have experienced.
Good luck with the rest of the mission. Dyers is one of my favorites. I replay it now and then to hone my Ghosting skill, and to try to get through the mission with minimal equipment usage.
It's FUN!

Is ghosting possible in this mission? Blowing the wall up makes a bunch of noise, but maybe cause it's an objective you can ignore it?

A literal ghost is not because you need to "Blowup" a few things. But most of it can be done without alerting, or being discovered by the AI if you are careful.
The one objective in the garden is not possible without an explosion, and later in one of the upper rooms you need to be faster than lightening or kill a whole gang of spectres to move on.
But you can sneak through most of it un-heard or seen if you are super patient.

It seems that the last time I've played Dyers' Eve (2004) I never properly finished the mission. This week I found the relic of Father Conrad, destroyed the elemental shield, and jumped through the portal :D.
Finished on Hard difficulty, in 1 hour, with 1645/1805 loot and 1/2 secrets found.
Very cool mission. Spooky, interesting objectives, and some nice undead effects. A bit hard, but enough equipment around to deal with the zombie infestation.
A pity Metalhead is no longer around, and this campaign is left unfinished.

When i try to go down in the basement the game crash,
it does not matter which side i choose. Frustrating
Anyone who has any ideas? Nice game, really want to
finish it :D
It is the same in some games, it just wont let me to some
places.
I have win XP, AMD dualcore 6000+ and Nvidia 8600 GTS by the way.
*EDIT*
It was the same thing with "Garrets Young Years 2" when i climbed
up the rope arrow and squeezed through the hole in the wall, it was a
spider int that room, then down to the abandoned quarter or what
it was called. When i jumped to that hole, the game crashed
countless of times. But then it just worked, i jumped in and rushed
to the other side and down.
I have tried to rename the EP.crf file but that didnt work.
