Please tell me that it is worth carrying on (4 hours so far). I've got to the place where I ring a bell and a chap with bottles scurries away. I'm now followed everywhere I go by a bouncing Dewdrop and a bouncing bosom. The places I go have masks, someone rotating in the roof of a tower and ghostly guards that can hit me in onesided contests - I can't hit back. My brain has turned to mush and I've lost the will to live. Put me out of my misery - I've got the Exit Key.

It sounds like you've completed a large portion on the mission, ffox. You should definitely keep going but maybe after you take a rest. :)

Yes, you are almost done.
:)

Thanks for that. You were right Nightwalker, I needed a rest.
OK - 42 minutes later involving hands, bucketheads, plinths and wine bottles: I've met her, I've got it, I know what to do with it.
How do I get back to the real world to do it?
ffox on 1/12/2003 at 11:33
OK, I've finished. I really liked some parts of this, and got very frustrated in others (all of them in the ghost world). There were two things I'd never have thought of doing without reading this forum:
1. Taking the flowers from one ghost and putting them in front of another.
2. Bashing the plinth with the sword after finding that frobbing it hurts.
What clues did I miss to those two actions?
Nightwalker on 1/12/2003 at 15:53
There's
a note on the desk in DeLoret's office/library (underneath the big green spider) that says something about Louison and flowers. There's also a plaque somewhere in the kitchen that I believe is a clue of sorts about the flowers. It says "A fireplace will warm the body but only a gift will warm the heart". I have to admit I don't think I would have figured it out from these clues. I got a hint from here.
The clue to bashing the
pedestal that the Hand of Glory sits on is one about sound. On a plaque by the door into the Hall of Statues it says "Among all these hostile blocks of stone only the mute's sacrifice will open the way." If you listen to the statues, they all make a sound but the central pedestal doesn't. That's the only clue to this that I recall finding.
Help - I'm stuck at an early stage: I have slashed a banner in a room off the main corridor on the first [UK] floor and it leads to a room which gives onto a room with a watcher and a guard who runs about madly back and forth...the other side goes out to the top of the main stairs, where another watcher keeps guard. I think that I need to go left here somehow, but cannot see how to get past the watcher and [crazy] guard: any hints would be appreciated as this is an intriguing FM.

Turn around and explore in the other direction. You don't need to go across the area where the Watcher is to get to the other side of the house. Good luck! :) If you're wondering about the double doors near the Watcher
you have to find a hidden way in. It's downstairs somewhere.
If you need more help, post or email. :)

Thanks for the clue - but all I have found downstairs is the metal door that opens the tower above the garden or the secret tunnel to the armoury: I presume that I am not on the right trail?? Any oblique hints would be great, please.

Higgins
Outside the metal door that leads into the base of the tower, there's a banner on the wall. Slash it, then look for a lever inside the tower room. It opens a secret door behind the slashed banner. That will take you into the locked rooms upstairs.
