From Beneath the Sands has been updated! There's a nice brand spanking new Italian translation, and I've included scripts to hopefully combat a few reported problems. You can get it from the link in my sig!

I'm trying to play this wonderful mission, but apparently I'm very blind because I'm stuck where no one has been stuck before:

I found the lever, got into the high priest pit, found an ankh, found a secret (the one near the room with the levers), and convinced all the mummies to take a nap so I can move around easier. I used the lever, but as far as I can tell it didn't do anything, i.e. no new doors have opened and I have no access to the lower levels. What am I missing?

Edit: I also found another secret with a note of the architect congratulating himself, but "the way" still hasn't opened. Specifically, the map shows three corridors that access the lower levels, and all are closed.

Edit 2: I also tried grabbing the wrong lever and working my way through that (yikes!) which was fun but didn't do me any good either...

I can help with your second question: to find the secret near where you get the lever, you want to backtrack; go back toward the door where you had to cross the metal plates). It is within 15 feet of the mummy, but you won't have to pass within his line of sight to find it.

As for the lever itself, I have re-explored the entire upper level and still have not found anything besides some loot and 2 secrets, nor met any objectives. I used the lever like a key on that electric switch box in the lever chamber, but none of the 3 openings to the lower levels (as shown on the map) have opened.

Thanks, I absolutly missed that [SPOILER]torch up there in the corner. But I got finally got the door by the lever device to open. I thought all I need to do is to insert the lever and it's all done. You need to pull one of the switches too. That will open the door right around the corner. :thumb: [/SPOILER]

Just finished!! Excellent mission!

[SPOILER]The fast mummies were great, but what made me really jump were the haunts that showed up after I got the staff. I grap the staff, the lights come on, I start running , take the wrong turn and.... voila... run right into one of them. :eek: I also tried to destroy the remains in the wrong lava pool. That didn't work. Good I saved my game. The muffled mummy noises where awesome.[/SPOILER]

lol, so much for planning. I'd made it so that supposedly by the time the player had to destroy the Emporer's remains, there should only be one accessable lava pool. But cunning crate stackers have rendered my proud work undone and skipped the Pool of Fire puzzle by jumping on the sarcophagus nearby... :laff:

As for my signature, that's weird. I guess it only shows your signature once per page maybe? Or once per thread? Or maybe you have them turned off. Anyway, the link is just to the thiefmissions.com download of the mission!

OK, don't I feel silly. After using the lever, then un-selecting it in my inventory and frobbing the switch again, the door opened. :o

Hmmmm...only 2025 loot found.

I got [SPOILER]the bracelet on the floor near the multi lever room[/SPOILER] which was easy to miss.

Assuming I found all the easy loot (including loot associated with the secrets), was there any place anybody can recommend I search.

I got the [SPOILER]valuable accessed when a switch in the rafters triggers a floor panel.[/SPOILER]
I solved all the puzzles, though the door with the switches solution I got from this thread.

I hope I don't have to go back to that maze where you play follow the spider. I didn't (couldn't) explore that area very well.
