OMG this must be a very nice fm...........but I get a crash whenever I approach the 1st gate at the beginning.......:(

Iirc, as you enter the city gate for the first time, immediately on your right is a shop. They are in there on a shelf.

Ah... ok, I understood, thanks. I can't get out of there. To exit, I must use a special system. Unfortunately I can't operate that system.

What seems to be the problem? I'll see if I can talk ya through it.
@maga- Are you already inside the mission proper? If yes then just try to avoid the gate, if no then try approaching the gate while looking down at the ground, this might solve the problem if it's a graphics type issue, if that doesn't work I could send you a save point from just inside the gate and you could play from there. Good luck!
