Thanks Jericho, I don't know how many times I've looked in that small room for the switch. This is a pretty cool mission. Now on to mixed messages......:thumb:  :ebil: :sly:

I finally found time to play this and I had a great time with it. I agree that the required loot total is a bit too close to the amount available on Expert but despite that, it's a lot of fun to play. Thanks, jericho! :)

The room to the right of the altar, not the secret room, I found a switch low down by a bed on the right. I flipped it, but I have no idea what it opened or where. I hear this secret room has some masks and the crypt key in it, I just can't find this secret room.

bohemian,
It's in the same room as the switch
What I can't figure out is,
where Gerrard's diary or the key to the tower are. I read something that is supposably his diary, om his desk in his room, but the objective didn't tick off so I'm assuming it wasn't the only one.
Regarding dafydd's discussion that Perfect Thief should be obtainable, I disagree with that philosophically. If one knows in advance that it is obtainable, that changes the game completely. When ghosting was first invented, no mission was known to be ghostable. Many were ghosted using heroic efforts. Some people gave up and said it was too difficult, and others came afterward and succeeded. That made the challenge more interesting. Perfect Thief has always been more difficult and never guaranteed. For that reason, I think it is too bad that the subject of ghosting was even mentioned in the readme file. I think it is better to keep it a secret and not raise expectations.
I have mixed feelings about designing a mission to be ghostable because it can make the task too easy. It should be hard -- that is the whole point. I think Jericho did an excellent job of making it hard in a few places. The dining room is a good example. I don't think it can be done without
using four water arrows, and even then it is not straightforward. So, you need to save water. Standard technique. :)
The loot objective is another example. If the loot objective had been lower, ghosting would have been too easy, IMO.
All that said, I think that there could have been a little more loot headroom for the benefit of most players and some other challenges inserted to add challenge to the ghoster. It is a difficult balancing act, and I commend Jericho for pulling it off nicely in his first mission.:)

There is a technique for crate stacking known as the "stack 'em' up" method that makes life much simpler. Try this, and maybe you won't hate it so much.
1. Make a little stack to one side.
2. Grab a crate, look directly down
3. Jump and release (R) the crate at the same time.
4. Jump to put yourself above the crate.
5. Lean over, grab another crate, and repeat steps 2-4 as needed.
6. To go higher, you can slip off one stack, start another, and use the first stack to go even higher. It is possible to alternate stacks back and forth and gain a lot of altitude.
As I recall, two crates stacked in this manner were sufficient to reach the rope, if it was well placed to begin with. The barrel was added for the benefit of those who do not know or like this crate method. Too bad you broke it, Melissa. Hope you didn't hurt yourself in the fall.:)

You guessed it, Lobster.:) Gerrard is a dupicitous writer -- one copy for the public snooper, and one copy for private use.
Look behind the dresser in Gerrard's bedroom.
I can't seem to find the Tower Key. I have followed Sarik's reply in the last few posts about it being in Gerrards Room. I found the hidden lever and saw the painting rise. I only found 2 stacks of coins but no Tower Key(EXPERT with the latest Scripts installed and Thief 2 patched to ver 1.18). Is this a bug in the game?? Other wise an excellent mission!!!!

Cutty452,
No bug, so far as I know. I think it is likely that you are in the wrong room. I played in Expert with the same configuration as you, and I found that
the Office has two gold coin stacks and a Girrard's key, which is the key Girrarrd's bedroom. The secret compartment in Gerrard's bedroom has many things in it (more than two coin stacks), including the Tower key.
The paintings do not rise in either room. They move to the side. Check the name plates next to the doors to verify what rooms you are in.
