Thanks Smithpd; I've been in Gerrard's Office the whole time; then walked to his bedroom which I was frobbing all over the place for that hidden switch a dozen times and walked right by it and not seeing it. Very clever in the way those levers/switches are placed. Have completed all Objectives on Expert except loot list. Have 4036; need 4500.
[Unfortunately no one is commited to their work as I am]

cutty452 - I'm glad you enjoy this FM. If you are short on loot, there is a lootlist available on Jason's site, prepared by Peter Smith.
Did you find:
a secret door in one of the stairwells? Just look carefully in a small garden area with a bush and you will find a switch.
Also:
There is a valuable necklace worth 200 outside of the tempke near the abandoned cart.
Not quite right.
There's a brick on the ground. That can give you just enough lift to make it up to your rope.

I've made it to the tower, but up to this point for some reason I found it too easy to find the switches. Maybe it was just coincidence, but the first place I started looking for a switch was exactly where it was. :P
I can't use the fire arrows either. They have the Deathstage 12 on them. Changing it and then reloading a saved game won't fix it. I'll have to start over. :(
So far the game is nicely done. :D

I just finished with 4588 loot and all secrets. This is a nice challenging mission with
lots of secrets.
Thank you Jericho for making this mission. :cheeky:

Just finished this mission last night. Jericho, I think you show much promise as a designer. :)
Visually, my favorite part was the outside of the building. Very nice indeed. Some of the inside rooms are very pretty to look at too, even though their style doesn't quite fit into a hammerite temple, in my opinion.
Of course, Willy was a great addition! I couldn't resist feeding him a piece of cheese, he was so cute!
I hope you don't mind if I offer some critique as well?
First of all, the lights need a radius set on them. This was especially obvious outside, where it was impossible to tell where the shadows were by looking at the ground.
Then the writing. Since the few letters were a nice read and there was nothing wrong with the text technically (correct spelling and punctuation, varied vocabulary), I'm tempted to think that all the diaries* were written as a joke instead of just badly. Nobody writes notes like that, especially not every single person in the building. Eventually I just couldn't be bothered reading if I saw that it was Yet Another Bloody Diary. The story itself seemed interesting, it was just that all the diaries put me off. No offense meant at all, I just can't stand diaries on general principle. ;)
One thing about secret switches. There were at least two of them that were in even a different room from the door they opened. How is the player supposed to know where to go if they can't see (or hear) what they've just opened? In this mission I was able to find them eventually, but there have been other FMs where I've gotten the "secret found" ticked off by finding the lever, but never finding the secret itself at all!
One last thing, but you can dismiss this as me being too picky if you want. ;) Some loot was placed rather randomly, in places nobody would just leave them, and where it's unlikely that they could just have been forgotten (the goblet up on top of a rafter is one example).
Well, that was the feedback I had. This was a good first mission. In fact, the reason why I wrote such a long post is because your mission is a promising start. Hope to see more of your stuff in the future. :)
* I use the word diary to refer to everything only the writer him/herself will ever read, just in case someone wants to get technical about it.

Morrgan - You can't imagine how thankful I am! This is the kind of the critique I'm really very "hungry" to read and learn. Very good point about the lights, in many other FMs I was actually wondering how the "shadow" effect was achieved, you know - creating the areas of shadow, so the thief can sneak in the dark. Radius! OK, I will remember that!
I don't intend to argue with what you wrote, but I suppose approach towards readables can be very individual. I actually got a message from womeone who claimed he loved reading long diaries in FMs, so he loved that part in Gerrard's Temple. Personally, I agree with you, I also hate too much reading in FMs, sometimes it's simply boring. Hm, what I may say? As I play Rowena's Curse now, I noticed there were also quite a few diaries, each of the main characters had his diary. Maybe the difference is that Rowena's Curse is more spacy FM, while Gerrard's Temple is relatively small, so there are more "diaries per square meter" :)
I totally agree with your comments concerning the switches and this has been pointed out by a couple of other people. Next time, I think I will add some notes or comments where the switches are, at least briefly...
Overall, I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed this FM. I hope to bring more taffing fun in the future.
Oh, and
I definiately plan to expand the role of Willy in the sequel. :) I'm already playing around, trying to add some new scripting here, so this "small guy" can have his own way of behaving. :)
Hello Taffers, first off this is a really good mini mission and im glad I got to play it. I liked how I had to sneak around a bit at the begining to find the way it, one small thing I enjoy though is finding more then one way in, like in thief 2 where you need to break into the bank, there are at least 4 diffrent ways in, but for this one I thought there may have been 2 (not includeing the front door of cource). The two ponds screamed water arrows to me, but I was suprised at some of the other items in there ;) although I didnt get everything from both since I didnt want to alert anyone to where I was. Inside I was doing good till I had to find the safe key, and the crypt key. There were some random things going on loot wise, things being all over the place. On the diaries thing, i suggest you feel like you are the character writeing in the diarey. Like in some thief games we have people who spell diffrently or who dont know everything about grammer. Anything the 2 "street rats" wrote, may bes a tid more kendergadnish :thumb: and also think of loot as something real, like if you had to hide something valuable, and you had some interesting places to put it (basement, cuboard, attic, floor, behind bed, etc) where would you hide it, during your everyday life? Giveing a realisim to the game itself ;) All and all a great mission, good hideing spots, some too good  hehehe hope the next one comes out soon. Bye for now Taffers

All right, I have completed the FM once before, so i decided to try it on a harder level, this time on hard. I have been tapping my head on big iron things because I can't remember where the key to father gerrard's office is. I know you need to get in there before the bedroom...
I'm going to treat my slightly bruised head...:(
