I cannot seem to find the switch or lever to a secret opening in the tower basement.
Its the only promising way to the other side of the wall. I also haven't found a speedpotion anywhere, to get over the unjumpable lavapit. Can anyone give me a hint?
Thanks:confused:  :eww:

I found the switch in the room to the right of the alter after I found the entrance to the vault. I cannot find the key to open the door through the tunnel with the female zombie lying on the floor. I guess this is the "crypt key" I'm looking for. Where is it?:p

I seem to be the only one with this issue :)
I'm in the basement, and I've done everything in there... worked my way entirely around, got rid of zombie and ghoul children, found the diamonds the fallen area of the ruined office, and went behind the banner, found the switch to the passage and walked to find the crypt, the book and the jewels.
But now I can't get back up to the main church! When I climb the ladder to the area with the bones, I can't open the door at the end of the short hallway. Unpickable, and none of the many keys I've collected do the trick (A's, G's, office, tower, crypt, lost key, J's key, safe key). And rope arrows won't sink into the ceiling above.
Is there a key I'm missing to get out? And will I need to reload from an earlier save to get it?
Lovely mission!
Cheers!

Melissa :
a rope arrow will stick into the ceiling, but aim toward the outside. otherwise the arrow will "hit" the chandelier
Melissa, also:
You won't be able to jump onto the rope arrow from the ground. Use the barrel or the crates to climb onto, then jump.

You say you found the secret room right from the main altar, correct? Is this a room with masks? If so, this is where the crypt key is. Just open the chest and voila! This is the key, which opens the door you mention.

Look carefully in the tower. SUPER SPOILER: look behind a broken statue. As for the speed potion, look in one of the stairwells, there is a small garden with a bush. That's where the switch is. But you don't need to jump over the lava pit, there is also another way.
Jericho, I think you misundertood dbrilliant, and I'm stuck in the same place.
I can't figure out how to open the little secret door on the other side of the lava pit, by the rats. I've killed the zombies and ghoul children, and scoured the area thoroughly, but I just can't seem to locate the switch. Somone help please!
jericho on 3/11/2003 at 15:19
Sure, here goes:
There are 2 slow-opening doors in this area. One of them leads to the wrecked office, another one leads nowhere, there is a blocked tunnel. This is the place where the switch is. Look carefully here.
Ugh.
When I first jumped in, I landed on the barrell ( I wasn't sure of the height and wanted to prevent taking damage) which broke it. And I absolutely DESPISE crate stacking!
Also, I tried sinking rope arrows into the wood that surrounds the orange area in the ceiling, but the ropes don't come even CLOSE to the floor. No amount of crate stacking or barrell climbing would let me reacch that rope.
There's really no other way out?
Looks like it's reload from an earlier save time :p
Cheers!

Melissa, there is
no other way out, I'm afraid.
but
You don't need to stack crates. Jumping on one single crate is fully sufficient. Just shoot a rope arrow to the wooden beam up, a bit close to the tower wall (but not too close). You should easily reach the rope from just one crate.

I had no problems reaching the rope from the floor. :p
