I found and read these texts.
I still do not understand about the "target". Tell me clearly what to do? The target is the Foreseer. You can find it
in the prison or, if it fell into the lava, in the red caves.

No, because that's what I use. I presume that your FMSel reports "Thief 2 Final 1.23 -- [FMSel 1.1.2]"?
Ah, no.
Apparently I have not actually succeeded in upgrading to 1.23 yet.
I must figure out how to do that, and I feel sure everything will work.
Thanks. That is the missing piece.
Uh. Give me a hint. I have downloaded the 1.23 upgrade more than once, but obviously I am not applying it correctly.
edit: SUCCESS!!!!!
It loads and starts correctly now. I've been looking forward to playing this.

Well done. You're in for a real treat.

Should
"I have a bad feeling about this"?

I have some more questions. I know full well that I may not benefit much from your answers (you're really enjoying this, aren't you? :cheeky:) but I'll ask anyway:
I've found some more things. More loot, a secret or two, and most importantly, another area within the main cave system. This last find has eventually led me to be able to manufacture the 'other two' potions, Blood Ash and Holy Ash.
I think I can see The Foreseer stuck in a pedestal in this 'new' area. I was almost sure I could release some sort of important bond by shooting a Blood Ash arrow on it, but nothing happens if I do.
And speaking of potions, why the heck would I want to make something as spooky/dangerous as a demon 'unseen'.
My set of questions have mostly to do with navigation in the caves:
1. I have found one rune switch that toggles light on/off, plus two more rune switches. What do they do? I have a guess that the 'u' switch in the innermost top cave activates the teleporter that can take me back to the sewers on main island (correct?) but what does the switch at the top of the pillar jumps area do? It turns smoke on the pillar tops on/off, but there must be something else to it, right?
2. Is there some consistent way to get back to the important 'new' cave I mentioned above? I've only managed to get there twice, and both times purely by dumb luck. It's located on the top floor in the area with lots of telepoters, but I can only get there if the doorway in that direction does not currently have rune symbols flowing from it. Is the ability to enter this cave somehow connected to the five symbols sequence (that sometimes changes) floating in the air in the lava cave with three bridges?
3. Is there a specific reason why the zombies/mummies are suddenly invulnerable to my sword. They weren't before. They are darn annoying when I try to understand the caves and to think...
4. The 'Heart Realm' again. The only thing I seem to be able to do in here (besides getting out again, or getting killed oh so many times...) is to hit any of five gem buttons that produce a sound. I can see a heart high up, some more openings high up and two unfrobbable metal doors at the ends of the main corridor. "Make an image of what you want to summon", says the Rituals scroll. "and bathe it in the tears of the vessel above you". Oh-kay... But how can I bathe something when I don't have an inventory!? Me so confused...

Epic post, btw.

That's easily settled.
Try it.

It helps you to
see where you're going.

code, which you have found twice, by accident. If you can remember it, then you can use it again
after resetting the floating symbols.

If you can see
neither tears nor a vessel, then look elsewhere.

I assure you, this is me being helpful. Persistence will often be rewarded, both here and in the game itself. I think you are doing well,
if you want my opinion.
Time for some fake poetry (with apologies to Aeschylus):
The Builder, whose law it is
that he who learns must suffer.
And even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget
falls drop by drop upon the heart,
and in our own despite, against our will,
comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of Karras.

Hey, that is an interesting idea. It is in fact so good I wish I had thought of it myself, but that's all I am going to say for now. You are entering uncharted territory here. It's probably impossible, but, then again, maybe not.Quote:

Doctor's diary again.

Yes.
There is a way to deal with them, but you might regret it later if you're not careful about whose feelings you're hurting. Also, take a closer look at them:
do they perhaps differ from one another?
