More hint:
Check the bedpost above the sleeping guard captain's head. Do you see anything out of the ordinary? Most hint:
The switch is pretty big and in plain view. Lean in over the sleeping guard captain to get close enough to frob it.Thanks qolelis, as usual with these kinds of things you have to be a special kind of stupid to not see it. Before I was able to follow your hints I even woke the guy up a couple of times just so that I could jump on the bed and have a super close up look of the top of the bed but still didn't find it.
Making progress now, so thanks again!

Thanks qolelis for the tip. I was skipping that parts of that whole area for some reason unknown to me.
This is a game I will play again. I am considering starting over, but I have come to far to back out now. I'll probably replay from scratch in a month or so.
I really did like getting the "Hand of Glory" so early in the game. It solved so many issues.
A question that I hope had not been asked before - there are unfrobable locks on windows and bars in many areas. Are these ever "active", or are they just window dressing?
Thanks for this FM. One of the toughest I have ever played. I started out on expert and gave up, restarting on hard instead. I will try the replay in a while on expert. Knowing the map fairly well helps. Yes, that is a cheat, but practice makes perfect. :D

When I drink "bloody ashes", I get a "bloody arrow ashes." After 20 seconds the mission is crashing. Is this a bug?

Those are just window dressing.

Is this a bug?Well, something is obviously wrong, but so far you are the only one having reported such, so maybe there is something missing in your set-up!? I don't know what that could be, but I would start by checking cam_ext.cfg and compare it with New Dark's default cam_ext.cfg; maybe there is some setting which differs from the default setting and is causing the crash.

Although you did get something out of it, right!? Plus a small bonus.I have two
Dewdrops that remained in my inventory after getting back. I now have three different ones, and I do not think it's a coincidence that their colours are the same as the signs marking the principles of Chaos, Order and Balance as described in the Boniface chronicles.(the humanoid figures on the walls next to the Dewdrops - spooky )
And I frobbed the
red/white heart in the sky. It disappeared and did not show up in my inventory. I've been trying to look everywhere I've been to see if anything is different now. I've also tried the 'upside down' combo on the gem buttons, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I can toggle what the succesful combo did on/off by repeating it.
I am not quite sure what "Honor the past" implies, other than one needs to walk backwards in order to leave the place. :p
I do not think I am ready for any ritual in the rituals room yet, but I can get red smoke from all slots:
2, 3 and 4 seem rather obvious
5 gets red smoke from King's heart or Queen's heart
1 gets red smoke from red Dewdrop
I need to set someone/something free first, I think.
I have fired Blood Ash- and Holy Ash arrows on anything and anyone I could think of would make some sense.
Main object is still to
find the Foreseer, I suppose, but I am
really running out of ideas now.

What settings should I compare?

Something is different but, in all likelihood, you're too close to it to have noticed.

Difficult to advise without knowing exactly what you've seen and done. If you pm me with a save I could
take a look through your eyes.

Why confuse matters with the 9574 code in the book, then place numbers on the zombie's head? I dunno about the
9574 thing, but the
zombie head numbers refer to a jail cell that's interesting. That's how I found this secret. Cool idea and implementation of it.
Thanks to urgrue and qolelis for helping me with a weird problem (my savegames had gone awry).
Turns out I was pretty much right all along about how to proceed. :cheeky:
Finished now, 630 loot short of the max (nicely done, hiding this much) :D.
Got the
S ending. The sequence that happened felt so fulfilling that I did not feel like going back to the caves and try to understand more about doors, zombies, rituals and such. (That's for the next playthrough) I just took my rowboat and left.
Oh, one more thing: Is there something in the mission that fits the
Hammer lock in the small cave with the elevator? I opened the wall behind it by force, btw.
