I just finished this mission. Excellent work - I don't like Mechanist missions much, but as long as enough equipment is provided to deactivate or destroy all the bots it's OK. A near thing, this time - I used every bit of equipment except for two moss arrows. I'm missing about 800 loot and the hammer: [SPOILER]I did go into the area with the haunts but didn't find a hammer there as I expected. Where is it?[/SPOILER]
I also couldn't find a place to use the Sewersman's Key, if I recall that correctly. Perhaps I missed a door. Can anyone tell me where? BTW, the second vault entrance was...nice. I stumbled upon it by accident.

The Hammer is [SPOILER] not right in the main crypt area with the haunts, but through one of the side rooms and down a passageway. [/SPOILER]
The Sewerman's Key [SPOILER] is used in a set of passageways you get to by climbing a box stack that is beside the elevator and jumping down in behind. If you explore in there, you'll find the door. It gives you access to an easy way to the point where the mission ends. [/SPOILER]

In Expert Mode...
OK, I found the lower vault door (off the upper workshop).
I found the magnetic lock switch, down by the lower storage room.
And now I'm confronted with a pair of inner doors, that needs a gear to open it.
Problem is, I already used the silver gear to open the door that gets me down into the underground complex in the first place, and the bronze gear (that I found in the safe of the plans room) to open the door of the radio tower. Is there another bronze gear, or am I SOL?

There's another gear to be found. I haven't played this in quite awhile but I THINK it may be [SPOILER] in one a bedroom off of the plans room that is down in the cave section. You can get in by climbing over from the room beside it if you haven't found the key. I think the gear is sitting on a tray or something that's almost the same colour, so you may have just missed seeing it. [/SPOILER] My apologies is this isn't right but I just don't have time to go check right now.

Actually, it turned out to be in the tray on the room next door to that one, but still -- you saved me a *BUNDLE* of time searching. Thank you. I'd gone around and around literally for over an hour, and that was the last thing I needed.

I know, the answers are on the forums, but I've read them and can't figure out which answers actually apply to me (what with me being a wuss, and playing on Normal :tsktsk: )
[SPOILER] I need to turn off the blue field to open the doors to the lower vault? How do I do this? Also, what does the power box behind the locked wooden doors in the sewer do?[/SPOILER]

I haven't played this one on Normal for a long time but I'm pretty sure [SPOILER] that you don't turn off the blue field to enter the vault on that setting. You get in through the big main vault door. The power box you mentioned only switches some of the tunnel lights on and off. [/SPOILER]

Thanks Nightalker, but I figured it out not too long after I posted :rolleyes:
On Normal, [SPOILER]you must go down another level to turn off the switch, thus disabling the blue force field. The vault is inaccessable from the main floor.[/SPOILER]
And yes, simple observation should have told me the lights just turned off in the sewers.. maybe I need more sleep...

Glad you figured it out. Normally, I would have just checked it out myself but things have been a bit nuts in RL around my house this last couple of weeks (not in a bad way. My daughter got married two days after Christmas!) and I just had no time. Thankfully, everything is almost back to normal now! :)
