I tried several different
combos after I consulted the crystal ball again (didn't know you could frob it) and must've stood there frobbing numbers for 15 minutes. None of them worked. Could you please share? Thanks Sagittal!
It is just the
numbers from the crystal ball but I sent you a PM!

Man this is a great mansion mission :-)
Couple of questions, spoiler alert:
a) The rising water in the observatory secret. Just a trap or does it fullfill any other purpose?
b) What do the switches on the way to the attic do? Rise pressure on what?
c) When you let the seargant with the blackjack arrets you, is there a way to get out of prison again?
d) Hey I am clever :joke:
Chiron, its a real challenge you're right - a great mansion mission - and I am beginning to struggle but ....
a) You can and need to escape the rising water
I used the rock to break the ceiling trap door and the large metal fan opened so that I could swim out It will only happen right when you're virtually out of breath - need to be persistant.
There is a breath potion somewhere else in the mansioni if needed. b) The switch/levers control
the force fields around the 2 basement metal doors. I think there are notices on the doors mentioning the attic c) There is
a loose stone in the cell that allows you ro escape. I did the first time but when I had to reload later on I decided to back-stab him before he got me - cant get in to the prison now so I hope there's nothing important there.

Disabling he picture in the Exhibition Hall? #1 & #2: I never did find the answers to your 1st & 2nd questions; been wondering about that
hut myself! Never found the
key to it. Never saw a metal grate on the grounds, either. :(
#3: I succeeded (
I think) in
disabling the rays & the metal things that come up from the floor around the Claw when I went thru the observatory underground secret rooms (don't forget your gasmask!). In those rooms there are all sorts of switches & levers to manipulate & 2 of them are labeled as part of the defense mechanisms for the Claw display. But I was never able to
disable those darned watchers! I ended up just using my
invisibility potions (I had 3 of them) while I opened the lock on the Claw's display case (watch out for a falling weight!); then I just
grabbed the claw & ran!
#4: If you
look up in the Exhibition Hall you'll see a walkway, but DON'T try to mantle up there because it's embedded with those metal 'X's that pop up & kill you if you try to walk on them. At one end of the upper walkway is one of those fancy locks that only the Dragon Key will unlock. What I did was to shoot a grapple arrow in the side of the walkway as close to that fancy lock as possible, then when I climbed up I was close enough that the lock highlighted so I could use the Dragon Key on it - thereby disabling the electricity around the painting below.

Thanks. Dia with your help I finished.
When I returned to a previous save (from dying in the gas) I obviously forgot to turn those 4 switches off again regarding the Claw :nono:
Still a couple of Optional objectives remained. I only got 2 of the electronic keys for the basement doors but I think the garden hut might have contained another and hopefully led to at least one of the Objectives ticking off? On to Mission 3.

Sterlino,
This was well worth the wait. I just love this fm. After I rest a few days, I will play again. I couldn't figure how to put out the fire trap between 2 watchers on 1st or 2nd floor. Can't wait for another one.
Thanxs

For some reason I cannot get the items that I purchased to carry over to the next level.
I can buy them but I cannot equip them afterwards. When I buy them, they are visible in the loot inventory when I scroll through it.
When I start mission 2 I only have what I already had during mission 1.

bob_doe_nz,
Guess you may have tried different combinations but someone posted that they had problems (pc crashing?) if they took more than one type of the new arrow with them to Mission 2. If they took only one type all was OK. I took some of the black hole arrows and just standard Thief items and all was ok for me.

The last item you bought will always be visible as a loot item, it gets updated as you buy a new item. Why I dont know, but that has no bearing on anything other than showing what the last item was that you spent gold on.
As far as the new items - if you mean the new arrows are you using your next weapon key to get to them? If they are special arrows they aren't going to show up with the regular 1-9 keys I don't think - you have to keep hitting next weapon until they are equipped.
Otherwise it must be a machine specific problem. I'm using vista 64 and all my items carried over and equipped fine.

I'm using Win7 32. I just tried XP with both versions of Thief. No go unfortunately.
Maybe someone would send me the next level with the stuff I purchased when I give them my save game.
