Hello everyone, I am releasing my first public Thief FM today for Thief 2, titled "Interregnum".
I have worked on this level for a year now and after a week of testing among friends, I wanted to release it today.
Importantly, this mission is for
Thief 2 1.28. Any previous version will break scripts and have you unable to progress through the level.
I have a Google Drive link here in this thread and also a page on thiefguild, both of them will have a download link of my level available on it.
(

thiefguild: (
https://www.thiefguild.com/fanmissions/102161/)
Please let me know if anything is broken in the level, thank you!

Google Drive link says this: "Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist."
thiefguild link is ok, but not direct to the file.
=== After some time actually playing FM ===
Well, too dark, no way to distinguish if I am standing in the sun or in the shade (I haven't seen many enemies, so that wasn't a problem, but still annoying), the layout is just a maze.
But no bugs or some weird problems. Doors are there, textures are placed correctly, technically everything is ok.

this seems like a very accurate recreation of an actual location... unfortunately I found it quite confusing to navigate despite a map and often too dark to see (even with gamma up).
I spent about an hour and half exploring very similar, dark empty rooms last night before completing it.
was this made in T2 just for a Watcher and security bot fake out? I see a lot of T1 textures and sounds in the ZIP bloating the size...

mission complete on expert 5252/5452,,2/2 pockets picked, took 1hour 15 min
love the exploration, loved the art, a bit confusing on map, but i made it through
hints for others one key on a guard to get to part of mission where you need to get the a key for some house by exit, once in house by exit get crypt key, then to crypt get ashes then back to big house where you got crypt key to complete in back of house
in all 2 of one key to access second part of mission then 2 house key not sure how you would get second one when there is no way in house without first key, and once you find last key you will know where to go
cant wait to see what you do for a second mission
once again the art was amazingly nice

I got confused reading downwinder's hints.
I'm gonna drop a big hint here: There's a page missing from the maps. You have to account for a gap in the layout.
The journey begins on the first page shown, on the left-hand side. At one point an objective will complete, and players will find themselves in a new area east of this first page. This area is unmapped, but it's the central area, with a giant grate in the ground being the centerpoint - the ashes are down in that room. The map page that shows 'Ruined' on it refers to the area south of here, and the map page that shows 'Crone House' is north of this area.
For further hints:
The crypt requires a key that is found in the Crone House, the Crone House requires a key that is found on the upper floors of the Lower Castle/Upper Castle-area, and a guard in the Upper Castle-area is carrying a key that unlocks many doors that connect the Castle-areas to the unmapped central area, making travel easier. A duplicate of the guard's key can be found somewhere in the lower levels of the Castle-area, and I do believe a duplicate Crone House-key can be found as well (in the Crone House?).

my point was getting key of guard is a must to get further in mission, the rest should be possible after that just looking a lot, i did not see a way to get the same key guard gives you with out getting from guard first i saw no other way into area with out guard key first, seems like that is a mistake also crone house key in the house itself is not possible to get with out the one crone house key in another part of mission
so not sure why the dupes of key are in place not possible to access in other ways
that is why my clue was no clear

I can't locate this supposed guard with the key...

Have you found the broken building, the one where you can jump inside from one of the corners? From there, I entered another building nearby to the northwest, and continued in a western direction from there. He was patrolling an area a few rooms in. Although I faintly recall being on the ground floor at the time, I may actually have been one floor up.
