I haven't checked the walk-through for an answer to this question yet. I'm going the easy route and posting it here.
How do I get down to the area with the spider and the crystal that you can look down onto through a grate behind those water tower looking things with the catwalks?
EDITED: Nevermind :cheeky: :o I followed my ears a little better this time.
All you have to do is post the question and the answer will magically occur to you.

I feel like a complete idiot for have to ask so early in a mission, but I have been searching for quite some time now. I am at the begining of the mission. I got my stash from my house, listened to the two girls talk, came to a building with 3 guards under a porch, finally had to knock them all out, climbed up the catwalk of the condemed building, knocked that guard out. searched the room up there and searched the hidden loft. I can not find a key to open any doors nor have I found a way to get over the gates. Please help as I only have a few hairs left...

Got some bugs to post :)
But I just want to say, that this mission falls into my "as good as an original Thief mission, or better" category.
I climbed into areas I wasn't supposed to, in THREE places, thanks to the 'running jump', which you may not be aware of.
Near the start, in the house where the secret button is in the babies crib: - up in the attic, stand on the window sill, or even climb up to the top of the ladder works as well I think - jump out toward one of those black pillar things on the wall opposite the building, and you can mantle up onto it; onto the roof of a building you shouldn't be on, where you can jump from roof to roof to get to places you shouldnt' be, and see enough scenery to cause Thief to crash.
The metal clock thingy next to the front of the police station (the doors you can't open) was still in my version - but I read that you removed it. (you can climb up onto it, and then running jump onto the roof of the police station...)
The other place is a funny story. You know how there is a secret way to get into the West gate station, well I was looking at the wooden things jutting out over the ledge on the wall of the West gate station, and the way I thought of getting up there, WASN'T the way I was supposed to.
The way I got up there, was to go all the way to the wooden barracade behind the jewlers, rope arrow up onto it, climb onto the building opposite the jewlers, climb up the ledge along that wall there, and then run along it (with the jewlers on your right), and jump at the wall at the end - using that running jump, you can mantle onto the roof.
From there, I walked along towards the west gate station, dropped down onto the roof behind that watch tower, actually mantled the IRON GATES, and 'tight rope' walked along them to the wall of the West gate station, where I realised that I couldn't get there that way, and finally noticed
the hole in the roof of the watch tower, where I should have rope arrowed up into from inside and crawled out of
But I was feeling quite chuffed at my climbing skills all the same :)

Actually I like to call them "first timers oversights." There were lots of things that I didn't think of, but many of them were corrected in the latest release. I did the run, jump, and mantle onto that building outside the attic, and actually had a sign up there telling the player they shouldn't be there as a joke. Dromed crashed and I never put the sign back up.

Ah cool, I wondered if you would ever see this - I only realised how old the thread was after I posted.
Well I only got my copy from The Circle a few months ago, so maybe they don't have the latest version yet? Or maybe it's been updated since then. I'd check but I already completed the mission a few weeks ago.

I recently release "A Love Story" which uses the same map but with a winter setting. I have added some new areas to this FM.

I'm trying to ghost this mission, and I can't seem to get past the first white building with the three guards. Am I missing something that should be obvious?
I read somewhere uptopic that I could mantle onto a "thing with a dial" on "the left" and get onto the roof of the white building, but I don't find anything with a dial. Somebody else suggests pushing the barrels and using that method to mantle onto the roof; but the barrels are immaterial, and I just walk right through them.
I can't creep past the guards because there is too much light when I get close to the building to the right of the white building; but the area in between, which looks shadowy, nevertheless brightens my light gem enough that I get spotted.
I can't hop onto the railing around the porch of the white building; if I could, I could get behind the guards and pass them that way.
This is really frustrating. What am I doing wrong? Isn't there any way past this very first challenge without busting heads? (Yes, I know I could just run past them, then up the ladder into the attic; but alerting AI is a no-no in ghost mode.)
Thanks,
Dafydd

I spent ages with my back flat against the wall, with them saying "who's over there" etc. before I finally just dropped a flashbomb and knocked them all out. I didn't see any other way out of it.
