Gloria,
if you haven't already found the conference room in the police station (I had the same problem but I've just finally found it),
You have to enter the police station via Bafford's house. This is the white house behind the wooden barrier. You need to climb the wooden barrier with a rope arrow and then enter the house via the balcony. In Bafford's office (the room with the small safe in a corner) you can find a hidden switch under the table. Press this switch and you get the front door key. Then you open the front door with that key and outside you find a sewer entrance...
I hope this helps you...

I've noticed that a lot of people use a rope to climb over the wood barrier. Has anyone
tried going the other way around through the West gate and past the thieves' house?
Hi John...been playing your mission and although I don't ghost per se..this comes to about as close as I'll ever get. Have done a lot of BJ'g to get through this as far as I have at this point. When I speak of ghosting in this comment...the no kill rule :( When I first started out I didn't know whether to try and use noise arrow to get the three guards away or use invis...decided invis was best...and so I was off. I managed to get all the Guards around this area, abit with some difficulty in parts, but with a reload to do over I had it figured out then for the better method. Hah, when I was in the Jewerly shop, having left the Nose Guard alone and the one standing outside near water...I went in. By the way I just recently downloaded this, maybe last week or something. Anyway, I also found the jewlery difficult to get. I broke a couple of panes over them at a time while down next to them keeping an eye on the patolling guard. He/they(?) did hear the glass breaking and tried to search outside apparently. I continued on and took elevator up to drop down on case top and then droped inside. The only way I was able to get some of those pieces to highlight was when I was creeping over and I bobbed...the downward motion of the bob made them highlight enough so I could frob. One ring in particular was very difficult and had to keep trying to get the timing right on my bob so I could get it.
The next thing was about the placement of windows at the Thieves house. There was no way for me to get inside without altering guard inside...I tried various methods including trying to jump in the window nearest the catwalk but angle was wrong. I tried putting a rope on the shed...but nearest window possible, he was standing right in the middle of it. I tried shooting a noise maker up there to get the one remaining guard in front of Baffords' to come over and investigate hoping he would shoot him with an arrow but it didn't work either. So I had to pass. I suppose if I'd of tried a flash bomb and hopfully hit him fast enough maybe it could have been done that way (???) I dunno but I'm not good with flash bomb things as I usually end up on the bad end. :(
My only other real critique was the catwalk over to the "aux cell" and the length of the jump and in the very dark. Now I don't know how it happened but the first time I tried it just to see what was there as I try to search pretty well but don't get everything anyway...I made the jump barely...but I made it first try. Then when I couldn't open that door up there I left. Much later, thinking I had a key that would work (which I guess I really didn't) I went back to try and jump again over there. For the life of me I couldn't make that jump again!!!! I can't tell you how many times I tried (even turned my gamma up to see better, used a flare to try and see my way...could not make that damn jump. Now after reading these posts...apparently that is where I have to go to free Jenivere...how am I to do this? Is the key in the Police Station to open "the" door?
Other than these things...the mission has been very challenging to say the least and your map creation has been very well done. But now I also have another problem...I cannot seem to find a way inside the gate. I tried a couple of things...I shot an arrow into the light on the roof..thinking it might break it and put alarms/watchers out of business but the alarms went off anyway and they started searching inside. That's when I figured what the heck...lets see if I can get on the roof and hop over. Nope...shot rope arrow up and it stuck but no rope fell...tried getting on barrels and ran into an invis wall??? wouldn't let me get all the way up enough...tried stacking the two crates (which I'm not good at all...hate crate stacking actually) but couldn't seem to get up enough to get over...so how is it being done???
For the most part I'm enjoying your mission and don't mean to sound like maybe I'm not...mainly getting a little frustrated with some of these more difficult areas. So if someone will kindly help me along here I would be very grateful :) Thanks much and Good Hunting!
ps:
Meant to tell you about Nose Guard...later after I got back outside, I didn't see him anymore...discovered later somehow he fell into the water and drowned himself :D

I used the shadow area to move around and get to the other side.
I tried this also and it worked just one time. Afterwards, when in possession of the master key, I would jump again on the roof of the building with the three guards in front and than hopped on to the ledge of the "Jenevere's lock-up building" and moved to the ledge, jumped on it and opened the door. Bingo!
I just put a barrel under the guardshouse window and jumped on to it, when he didn't notice me. I BJd him and immediately went for a hiding space..........

Well John.........You DID IT!
You nearly got me ripping out every hair on my head:cheeky: !!!
I finished the game on expert. That was tough though. I couldn't kill anybody !:nono:
You're quite a sadistic gamemaker, aren't you:ebil: ? I never walked so long back and forward from one area to another than in this game.
And than ............. when finding a key .................. it wouldn't fit on the door I suspected it to fit :tsktsk:
I was short of 390 loot. Must find this the next time playing.
Some comments: I think you shouldn't highlite doors that can't be opened in the game. It leads to confusion, while the game all together isn't that easy :thumb: :thumb:
You wouldn't want to get taffers to walk away from the game, don't you ...?!:nono:
I walked several miles just to try to open a door which I memorized to be closed, to find it NOT TO BE OPENED with any key at all. THAT'S frustrating!!!
What I REALLY want to day top you: THIS IS A SUPERTROOPER GAME!!!
I think I'm getting stuck again the next time I play it, because there's so much te remember while playing.........!!!:thumb:
Keep up the good work. I know we all will be hearing from you again!!!
Applause, applause, applause....!!!:thumb: :thumb:

Well Gloria I appreciate your efforts to help but am still a little perplexed on a couple of things...
Apparently you tried the noisemaker strategy at Thieves place. Just what did you do to make it work? I had already BJ'd the one Guard nearest me...the other Drunk guard was still standing when I made my way over. I BJ'd the one Thief and then shot my noisemaker up. The end result was the civilian inside got alerted and the Thief killed him and started hunting for me...the Guard never did come over. How did you manage the Thief...did the Guard come over in your case and kill him???
As far as getting inside the prison grounds...well Ok so you got in through the window...but with the one Guard patrolling back and forth...the watchers moving and the Guard outside on the Stairs and a very very well lit Guard room...how did you ever make it work? LOL How could you get out and not get seen???? Did you get inside from the Guard room on the right as you face inward...and then I saw a double door that looked molted on the right side as well..is that where you get inside the prison itself?
Thanks again for any and all replies :) Ta and Good Hunting!

The Fire Eater
to get into the police station stay in the shadows on the right hand side of the police station and go through a side entrance to the cell area. Once inside you should find a way of turning of the security robots.
Hope this helps!
john9818a
Thanks for your help but I meant the metal door undercover after you have opened the porticulis. It still won't open and as for
the door opposite the back exit to Lord Bafford's I've tries the master key and lockpicks on it again but still they don't work.
sexypat on 31/5/2003 at 18:24
i managed to get on the roof of the building with 3 guards at the start of the mission
but i can'T jump over the missing section of the metal rails i can'T jump that far ..
i tried to jump on the ledge of the building just on the right but everytime i tried to get around the corner to acces the rail i fall
how do i get there ?
i think i should explore that area before going further
help !!!!!
thanks but it doesn't help me much ...
someone said there was a important key up there so how did others managed to get there?
The Fire Eater on 31/5/2003 at 19:40
Well Taffers, I got in :) I was really about to call it quits cause there was no way I could see after trying to at least get the two guards inside the shack with my gas mine but it would only catch one and the other alerted. I would toss it in when the patroling guard stepped in cause I felt BJ'g the inside guard and running out to the side would have alerted them anyway when the patoling guard came back in again....soooo I figured there must be a reason for those crates and afterall Garrett is supposed to get around without notice :D I got the crates again and attempted to use them both to try and get up on the roof...but then in my attempts at jumping up I noticed that one crate seemed to get me up high enough near the fence to perhaps get over? After a few more tries, it worked..I found myself on the other side quite surprised!!! So then I managed to get over to the double doors on the other side and the rest is history. My most difficult time in there seemed to be when I got in the large area before the conference room...those two archer ladies gave me a very hard time, LOL Eventually I made it and now I'm back out near the Aux jail making my way to free Jeni :)
I went back to the Pub and cannot figure out how to do that puzzle. I tried shooting arrows at various points on that hanging over the door but nothing seemed to work? How and what do you need to do there? I'm still a little short on money..under $150 +\- and I tried going after the Thief again but couldn't get my tries to work there again either. I shot three noise arrows in the vacinity of Drunk Guard but the dummy only searched around his area and opened that door a few times to look inside> I'll never hire him to Guard my place...ha, ha!
I think I may have a few more locked doors to try again now that I have Master Key copy...I hope so anyway? The only place I didn't investigate at the Prison was the other side where Lt. Mosley was...didn't think I needed to visit her...probably I should have I guess but I did get the statue from the beams and got into other locked areas pretty much there. I also could not find ring in the water canal that was lost? Also how do you get into the sewer area where the little spiders were? I did see something down there with them but couldn't open grate nor find a way in?
Oh yea...what's with that scarecrow in the Target room? I tried shooting arrows at it but nothing seemed to happen...was there something with that?
Yea Sir Lance... I couldn't open that door either. I'm thinking that may be opened from the other side where you get through a locked gate near Guard Tower and find that ladder up to where that Pagan is dead up in the roof area? I tried throwing a nail I found in the water at the door and the guard in there tried searching but wouldn't open door...so again maybe it was just meant not to go in that area, but I'll give it a try to see when I get back over there.
Sexypat...I know what you mean...that jump over is very querky...I think it should have been shortened a bit so that it could have been made easier...and it should have been a realistic alternate way for Garrett to get over there. I have not tried the White building method and really don't want to have to get back over by the three guards again to try getting up on that metal thingie to try and get on roof to get over there. Now that I have rope arrows maybe there's another way over? However, I am inside from the apparent Barracks for the Guards to Aux jail and have not as yet tried the other door on the other side yet??? They may be workable??? Now that I have extra supplies from the Armory it opens new possibilties :)
Good Luck to you and see ya later. Ta and Good Hunting!

Help! (I'm near the end of the level)
I've got the master key and basically have cleaned out the police station (BJed everyone, turned off or fire-arrowed alarms). However, the Riverside auxillary cells were Jenivere obviously is - the door to that will not open with the master key. What opens it? I also can't do the long jump on the ledges - is this the only way to get there?
Thanks in advance!
(I edited this post - I figured it out on my own)
If you have the same problem above and need help, in the best Infocom tradition, I will give three hints in increasing levels of specificity:
Try looking at nearby buildings for doors you haven't successfully opened before.

Go south then west to the first door on the left, it will eventually lead to where you need to go.

Go south then west to the first door on the left, open that with the master key, go to the ladders, go to the highest level, unlock the one door that opens on the highest level, on the catwalk, look for a pipe going down, climb on it and climb down to the lower catwalk, use lower catwalk to reach a door that master key will unlock which is where you need to go to free Jenivere.
Now, I just need to find 401 more loot. (I've got the lootlist which should solve this in short order.)
