T2 FM: L'Arsene (Sep. 6, 2002) - by Lady Jo

To the person who's doing the translation a word of encouragement: there're many taffers around counting the days - nay - the hours, to the release of the translated version! I'm sure I speak for all of us who are waiting when I say that your work will be greatly appreciated, and make many taffers very happy :thumb: :thumb: !
While I haven't even taken a quick look at the French version (as I don't speak French, alas, and always like to read everything in a mission), just reading at all these posts (being careful and skipping possible spoilers) about "L'Arsene" makes me entirely convinced that it is a splendid effort!

Despite reading all the hints, I still cannot find the tower of Le Pouilleau, and/or how
how to get into it. I have been everywhere, to this point, and have used 8 keys.
Can someone please tell this dummy precisely where the tower of Le Pouilleau is??

It can be quite difficult to see the ladder. You may have been right beside it and just not noticed it.
Start at the upper door of the Police Station that leads out onto a metal walkway in the next quarter. Walk along the metal walkway and climb down the ladder at the end. At the bottom to your right, there is a wood lined tunnel. Walk through it and you'll be in a shed full of barrels. Just as you enter the shed, turn to your left and walk into the corner. On the back wall of the shed, there is a ladder that is almost exactly the same color as the shed walls. Climb the ladder, go through the door and follow the walkways (through several doors) to the end, which is a tower window. (I may just be clumsy, but I needed a box to stand on to get in the window, so you might want to bring one along with you.)
Nightwalker,
Thanks much for the ladder tip. You are right--I looked right at it several times
and did not see a ladder. After your tip I lit a flare and could then make it out.

I finished the game, but am 200 short on loot. I was not able to find the area shown
in the bitmap posted by Lady Jo that showed how to use crates and climb around to
another wall. Also, I didn't figure out how to get to the chest in the abandoned
section that can be seen thru the front window, after mantling up. Lastly, is the area
with the unfrobable gates, just west of the wooden bridge accessable? Thank you.

I put one Loot List on the site (
http://thief.math.uh.edu/missions/) :)
I rectified screenshots because there was a mixture with another fm:)
Did you find Géraldine's necklace?
There is as well 1 secret at the prostitute
I'm afraid I don't know this mission well enough to pinpoint exactly where the places are that you had questions about, webbjo. As Shadow Creepr said, the box stacking screenshot was from Karras' Diary and has been removed.
Could you tell me which section of the map the wooden bridge is in? I went and looked around but I couldn't find it. I found a brick bridge in the are with the police station but that was it. Just give me a building that's in the section, so I know where to look.
As for the chest you could see through the window, I have the same problem. If the chest is IN the abandonned area, did you find the key to get in there? If not, it's in
Chez Serge, under the edge of the sofa.
Otherwise, again, could you be more specific about the location of the window and I'll go have a look. You don't mean the one with the thief sitting in front of the fire, do you??
Hopefully, I'll be replaying this one soon in English and then I'll get the details down better. :)

Actually, the bridge is made of brick and it is the same bridge you refer to. The gates
are just to the west of the bridge which is in the area just south of the security station.
The room with the chest is in the abandoned section. Go straight thru the gate and
the window you look thru is a little to the left and up one floor. You can mantle up and
look thru the window and see the chest, but when you get down and go thru the door
it seems like you should be able to rope arrow up to the rafters and then get into the
room, but the rafters dead-end against the wall of the room.

I revisted the room with the chest in the abanded section after my last post. I could
mantle up to the window and see the chest, but could not mantle up thru the window.
My thinking went back to the obvious and I went and got a crate from another location
and brought it back to the window in the abandoned section. This worked, and there
was 100 loot in the chest.
I guess this means my only question now is if the area behind the gates near the
stone bridge is an accessable area.
