[Folks]
I just ghosted L'Arsene!
The (very long) writeup is here:

This time, on my ghost run, I used the secret passages inside the De Charry house to drop down into shadow, then sneak up on L'Arsene, pick his bulging purse (all the loot from the De Charry house, I think), and knock him out.
Yes, he can be knocked out if he's not alerted.

I am flabbergasted that it can be ghosted - I have kod just about everyone in the map and still find myself short of dosh: thanks for the tips Nightwalker but I have got all of those items, so I will have to do a house to house I guess. Hats off to the superior thieves - your patience is awesome. I've also started the sequel Emilie Victor - surely you haven't ghosted that one as well?
:wot:

BTW, brilliant ghosting report - great ingenuity and fine descriptive writing. This is what keeps Thief going.

Thanks for the kind words.

I'm in the process of playing Emilie Victor now. So far, it hasn't been difficult to ghost; but I'm not finished. I have about 1600 loot so far, and I've replentished my thiefly stuff (one of the objectives). But I keep expecting some other objective to crop up, or else something bad to happen  .
I haven't gotten into De Loriet's private rooms yet, the ones guarded by the Watcher; I need to find that key (the doors are unpickable). The guard that has the heaves had a different key (it was Forest); I didn't get a chance to look closely at the other guard... maybe he has it? I think I checked the patrollers without success.
Any hints on where I can find the key to the private rooms would be appreciated.
(You know, I'll bet if I went to the Emilie Victor thread, I just might find an answer to my question. Doh!)

I posted some help in the other thread for you, Dafydd. :)

I finally found the errant loot - and now playing Emilie Victor as well; also looks a great FM. Thief III will have to be good to match the imagination of the 'amateurs' - perhaps that is why it is so long in coming?

I read all through the posts here and I cant seem to still find my way to L'Arsene's treasure, Not sure if it the metal door that is locked at the beginning of the game. I have tried searching all over for that key, could not find.
Would like a hint or help as how to find L'Arsene's treasure.
I have all but 2 objectives ticked off, Finding L'Arsene's treasure and keeping L'Arsene alive...
I dont know how to find his Treasure...
Any help or hint is appreciated...

You'll find his treasure
under that metal door in the ground not far from where you begin the mission. Le Pouilleux stole the key so you have to find his tower to find the key. Go into the Security (Police) building, out the back door upstairs onto a metal catwalk and climb down the ladder at the end. Right beside you, at the bottom, is a wood-lined tunnel. Go through it and you'll be in a shed. Look for a ladder on the back wall. Climb it and follow the walkways up there. You'll end up at the tower. (I needed to bring a box to get in through the tower window, by the way.)
I'm having trouble trying to get this mission. I've downloaded it 4 times now, from 2 different places (ttlg and cheapmissions) but when I click on it in darkloader, I get an access violation. I've tried downloading it again and again, using different names, too. Any ideas?!? :erg: :grr:  :(
