Are there any good links for downloading outside of USA and Europe ?
The posted links are either 404's (Thief Circle, Filefront), or dl at 11k per second (Rapidshare, Southquarter) and in the case of Megaupload, it refuses to let me have the file unless I install their toolbar.
It's no fun trying to download Thief stuff when you live in China :-)

Finally finished this one (a little over 2 hrs. and thanks Nightwalker :cheeky: ) and have to say it really is a great FM. Graphics & sound were very good and once I got my bearings I wasn't so prone to get lost (well, not as hopelessly as in the beginning).
Thanks to Lord Alan and all who helped in creating a super FM! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
*settles down to await the next Lord Alan episode*

Two hours! Wow. You must have been tearing through there. With a great deal of experience (not getting lost at all), my fastest time is about 1:30. Usually I can do it in 2:30, taking my time. In my first play through it was more 6:00. My suggestion is to play it again, take your time, try riding the drill pipe, etc., go for all the secrets and loot, and read all the notes and builder's scriptures. Timed skill would be a good option for you.;)

What's wrong with 11k per second? It's faster then the 4k per second i downloaded it at. :cheeky:

Perhaps we could have a competition to see who could do it the fastest, on hardest difficulty and get all loot and objectives. Though i think without a walkthrough most people won't be able to get all the loot... is a walkthrough for this mission in the works by any chance?

I think having a speed competition is a great idea!:D I had thought about that myself, but I delayed proposing the idea until after most players had done the initial exploration. I would like to suggest three categories of play, all on Timed skill:
1. Anything goes. No requirements other than to complete the mission. This implies the player will want to BJ most of the AI encountered, kill some of the monsters, take no loot, read no scriptures, and find no secrets.
2. All objectives. Fastest run completing all possible objectives (including optional and hidden). This includes no kills of humans, no BJ's, find all loot, all secrets, read all scriptures, visit 95% of the factory, etc. (
http://home.comcast.net/~smithpd1/thief/factory_objectives.jpg) Here is a list of the objectives.
3. Perfect ghost. All objectives, as above, plus no alerts of any kind, including monsters, and take no damage. (
http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=30310) The ghost rules are here.
One final thing. I think it should be a matter of honor that a walkthrough cannot be consulted
during the speed run. Can you imagine a player hitting escape, which turns off the timer, and consulting a walkthrough at every turn? It is unsportsmanlike. I have heard about someone working on a walkthrough, but I don't know its status.
I typically do the perfect ghost in 2:30, but I am sure it can be done faster.
"Gentlemen, start your engines!" (ladies, too) :)

Pavlovscat and I have done up a walkthrough and I have a loot list that was compiled during betatesting. Anyone who wants either/both can just email me. :)

Sorry if this sounds hopelessly naive, but do you mean
minutes?? Or hours?
I just can't imagine doing all of that in ... two minutes plus change. I want to say no way.
But it's the way you wrote the number that raises a question, and I can't be sure that the player can't really get around that fast hopping his way around and taking shortcuts I don't know about.

Well if he means minutes, I'll eat my blackjack.
