Hm, now I'm even more confused since i read the last posts another time.
I've ALSO been to the lower (of two -are there more?) turbines area. There I blackjacked two engineers, none of them has
the key.
But why is it the turbines arey, when one letter says something like
"i assume you still have the key? tell me when you're finished in chemicals"
Key 2200 is located
on a white suited worker who patrols on the lowest level of the electrical generator / turbine room.
The note you may have read is misleading. I think it applies only to the tips skill, but I do not recall. The key is elsewhere in Thief and Timed. I think that is a bug that was not caught in testing.
Edit: You say you have been to the lowest turbines area. Are you sure? At that place the flywheels are entirely above the floor.

yeah i've been there. The flyleafs are going just over the ground there. There I found the two engineers. And two guards, also sleeping by now. Can't find the key.
So sad, but I fear I have to give up. Maybe i got the key and dropped it sonewhere. Don't want to start again the whole mission (....ok, not today that is)

ok, sorry that i stole your time and thanks for the FREAKING fast answer smithpd.
I checked the places again where i dropped some keys (i.e. elevator keys in the elevators) and i accidently dropped the key in front of alan's office...D'OH :wot:
I searched for sooooooooo long by now.
OK, back down.

That's a known bug and it only happens rarely. You usually just need to save and reload and it will disappear. This mission really pushes T2 to it's limits.

Is there any way to get past (ghost past) the creature in the Engineer's office without using an invisibility potion?

Is there any way to get past (ghost past) the
creature in the Engineer's office without using an invisibility potion?Yes.
You go to your right, hugging the wall, and moving quickly and quietly to get close to him, just around the corner. Then, crouched and creeping, you can creep right past him and actually pass through his skin texture into Harcant's office. This is made possible by the lack of a bounding box for a tree beast. That is, they are insubstantial.
There are several tricks to ghost beasts, and that is one of the nuttier ones.

Now I'm stuck ghosting on the rooftops of the Air System in which a plant-thing is making it jolly difficult, is there some way around it or will I need to use 3-4 moss arrows and a lot of patience?
Cheers

The key to ghosting is to use your resources and try lots of different things. This is a relatively simple one. You have the basic idea, but you need to go fast in the initial part to avoid being seen when lit, then creep when you are past him and in the shadow.
