Just stumbled on this, looked promising. Playing it right now, around 1 hour in and seems very very interesting so far. Very industrial atmosphere, unexpected beginning and really large, well designed complex to explore, this I love

Wow! Just.... wow! Even 15 years after it´s release this mission leaves me speechless! Usually I am not a fan of "not OM-like fanmissions" but this one is a gem on it´s own. The factory, it´s even bigger than the fortress, then the big machines, the sounds they make, everything is just awesome. I´d really like to know how long Lord Alan (the author) spent on this mission to finally build it.
To the gameplay: The factory is so big that you easily lose orientation even with all the maps and hints around. It also gets tedious fast walking from one end of a hall to the other cause it just takes so long. More speed potions would have been cool. I was also very glad that I could most often sneak past the suddenly appearing creatures. I´m not a fan of direct fights, that´s not sth. a thief does. I also never tried out the creation of the TNT arrows, a cool element to add but not my cup of tea.
The story: 10000/10.
I found all secrets (the last one only with help from the walkthrough), 10 scriptures and 4200 loot (it was only very late in the mission that I found out that the elements have expensive gems that I can collect). I had to use the walkthrough 2-3 times mostly for orientation or finding sth.
Next time definitely going to replay this on expert with finding all the stuff :thumb:

Oh, and don't touch machinery: it'll cause gamover, but not immediately. I suppose I'll undertake the next (3rd) attempt to finish this FM in 5-6 years. Not earlier.

well, I've become curious about it too, I checked Dromed, it says I worked on the .mis file for about 670 hours, but I think this amount should be doubled as a minimum for the making of objects, custom graphics, testing an so on. Considering my current life that's an incredible amount of time, but at the end, when you are motivated and inspired by a project, time is just a secondary factor.
Today I have a wonderful memory of those hours spent dromeding. Today and forever.
Cheers.

Some time after Factory had been tested and released I opened it in DromEd. I was surprised at how small the texture pallet was. Something like three dozen hard surface textures for the whole map. Well chosen and working in concert they really did the job.

Daaaamn this is amazing! It means you only needed a few months for it.. If you told me you spent 3 years on it I´d believed you without any doubt! :D
