Of all the Fm's I decided to ghost, I had to start with this one......
Well, I've read this thread, and as usual, my problems aren't mentioned. So I'll list a few of the loose ends I need help on.
I can't seem to access one of the secrets...
The large well lit marble staircase has a locked compartment behind it, close to the annoyingly well lit elevator. Is this keyed or is there something to frob
On one of the stairwells you can mantle up past the steps which takes you to a cache of goodies and access to the outside and two other towers. Those two towers have a door at the bottom that I can't open.
Apparently there is a secret door in the attic. I can't seem to locate it unless
it's that little door on the unpatrolled and ungaurded balcony outside the attic
To Nightwalker : Could you send me the secret list / loot list?

reply
Sorry, I'm not sure where you mean. Some doors at the base of towers go to the Upper Basement. Have you been there? The key to it is in an apartment not far from the kitchen.
Apparently there is a secret door in the attic. The ledge, near some large crates, is above the different-textured door in trhe stone wall.
Just a little added info for you :)
you can either rope up for make a crate stair...but since you need to get something else...probably a rope is best...it's a pressure plate not a switch actually :) I made a crate up and discovered what I needed to do, so after I got down, shot up an arrow to nearby beam. Maybe you've resolved it by now but in case I thought I'd offer a bit more to help :)
Ta and Good Hunting!

First of all, I wanted to say: I just completed Lord Alan's Fortress (and only needed help with
the cube vault
) and have to say this is a really cool mission with great architecture, secrets that unveil expansive areas, nice "mood music", etc. :thumb:
First question:
It was mentioned here that the password to the cube vault was 1234 with references to the movie SpaceBalls, etc. Question: Are any of the guards carrying scrolls that are supposed to give you hints pointing to the combo being "1234"? Are there any other obvious hints in the FM? Or, did the author simply expect that "everyone tries 1234" on combo locks in thief FMs? Just curious.
Also, I completed the mission (on action (easy) mode) with the following statistics:
42 KOs, 0 kills (but everyone not KOed)
10250/12500 loot
11/15 secrets found
(I separately emailed Nightwalker requesting the secret list and loot list, but is there a "guards" list so I can KO everyone? I'm surprised I didn't KO everyone because I usually KO everyone I can - that's my style and why I was playing in "action" mode.
Maybe there are guards in a secret area that I missed?
)

Clock, I sent you the lists, as requested. :)

You are only 1 short of the total 43 KOs you need.
Did you pay your respects to the mage in the cell. Seems like a mean thing to do ... especially after you went through all that trouble just to get the Truth for him and he appears KO'd already (you can already pick him up) but he's suffered so much he needs to sleep more deeply still.
Thanks to everyone for the assistence. I got 11 out of the 15 secrets on my own and I'll need Nightwalker's list in addition to what has been posted to complete the secrets and the total loot.
By not knocking out anybody, I've resorted to a different strategy, which I haven't seen discussed here before. I deliberately expose myself (in a tasteful way) and let the guards chase me away from where I need to go. Then I double back and explore. That marble staircase is an example. It is crowded with guards. I "flocked" them and let them chase me far enough that I would have time to double back and look around. No moss arrows were used here. Of coarse, this is just a permutation from the noise arrow function.
Does using a gas mine qualify as a KO ?

For what it's worth, the 4 secrets I missed were:
1.
The secret door in the attic
2.
The safe at the base of the marble staircase. I actually found the safe but couldn't find the trigger to open it.
3.
One of the small bedrooms on the floor with the library where a switch is located on the ceiling.
4.
The tile in the pool
Many thanks to Nightwalker for the list. I haven't gone through the loot list yet. I already have over 12000. The end is near :)
This was a very enjoyable mission.

I should thank Peter Smith for the loot list...delivered through Nightwalker.
