There is a gate on the outside perimiter you can pick. I think there is also a tower that you can shoot with a rope arrow.

I have been playing Lord Alan's fortress, and I am looking for a gem that makes you able to grab a certain key in the chapel. Any hints where it is?

Welcome to the forum, mostly! :)
The crystal is
in the jail section of the Fortress, which is in the lower basement. There's a chest under the table in Sir Ignaz's cell.

Take Lord Alan with you and go back into the caves where you found the picture with the diary beneath it. Look for another exit into an underground garden. In there, you'll find the way to get yourself and Lord Alan back to his room.
:)

Could someone walk me through the puzzle section? I've got the clues, but have been unable to do anything with them. What a fantastic mission!
Nightwalker on 8/6/2003 at 16:15
The clues are pretty specific actually, except for one, which I still have to do by trial and error.
In the first room that you teleport into, open the two end doors and the centre door, underneath the triangle shape, will open. Walk through it to the second room.
The clue for this room is: Alignment is key. Look through the holes in the central structure. The doors that you can see through those holes are the ones you need to open. When they are both open, the door under the triangle shape opens and you go through it to Room 3.
This clue is: Can you handle it? Check the door handles. Only two have them on the same side of the door as the door under the triangle shape. Open those two, then go through the door under the triangle.
Clue for Room 4 is: In the blink of an eye. This is the one I have to do by trial and error. Apparently, two of the lights flash in the same rythmn as the one over the triangle door, but I can never see it. You need to open the first one to your left and the second one to your right, as you stand in the doorway after entering.
The next clue is: The music will guide you. Listen at each door. Lean in to them and you will hear music. Listen to the music of the door under the triangle then find the two doors that sound the same. Those are the ones you open.
The next clue is: In metal there is strength. Take your Sword or BJ and hit the doors. Open the ones that make a metallic clang.
The final clue is: A shot in the dark. Put out the fire in the brazier and look at the windows. One of them is brighter than the others. Break it and jump through.
:)

Thanks, Nightwalker. I must admit that I didn't even read the clues or try it on my own before asking for help. I don't enjoy puzzle-solving very much and usually just look for the solution on the forum.

I just finished the mission. This is one of the five best FMs I've played. Keep it up, Lord Alan!
