If we keep getting fan missions as well made as this one, I won't need to hold my breathe for Thief 3.
An instant favorite! :thumb: :thumb: This mission is indeed incredibly ambitious and a stunning show of talent, but it shouldn't discourage anyone from building smaller, perhaps more modest missions. No matter how small a mission is it can still offer loads of fun, and at least I'm extremely happy and grateful for every single Fan Mission, and thank the authors who invest their time and creativity in bringing us new missions!
So to every aspiring Dromeder out there: keep doing what you're doing, don't feel like you have to top anything -- after all, this is not a competition (apart from the Contest missions, obviously, but that's all in good fun, not to be taken too seriously ;)).

Im stuck on the
face. Tried to drop the rubys several times but no way out opens.
Any hints?

Thief of Bagdad,
You must 'use' them on the eyes, not simply drop them. When you succeed, the gems visibly stick to the eyes, and a portal appears on the 'mouth'.
The eyes
That is correct. Use them. It is the same as Trail of Blood. To be more precise, use the "use" key (right mouse) to bring the ruby up front. Use it again to place it. Works kind of like a lockpick in that respect. And figure out which is left and which is right. This is with respect to the "owner" of the face, not the player looking at it.
Ok, the toughest part of this mission so far (and I'm close to wrapping it up):
The vault in the basement. I managed to enter it and take what was in there, but I'm not satisfied with the way I accomplished it. First I tried to use my moss arrows on the loud marble floor so I could move quickly and silently, because the servant who walked around in that area didn't take very long to do his round. That didn't work too well, because the guards always spotted me through the window, regardless of which way I tried to enter the vault and how low or slow I tried to sneak.
Finally I had to resort to shooting two noisemaker arrows down the corridor to lure as many of the guards and servants to one spot as possible, and then shooting a gas arrow at them, knocking out all but one, whom I had to knock out. Depressing, and very unprofessional to alert people of your presence. :( :tsktsk:
;)
I wanted to sneak it, but just couldn't do it. I still think it can be done, and I believe I'll go back and try it again, but at that time I just wanted to move on with it. Feels like cheating, though.... :(
There have been several other challenging spots, but everything in this mission is so meticulously planned, including the patrol routes of the guards and walking routes of the servants, lighting and shadows, that with careful observation there's always a logical course of action to be followed. Everything's taffable, no impossible situations, only just suitably very challenging.
The other part I had to try several tactics with was:
Trying to lift the key to the Lower Basement from one of the guards on the courtyard (not the one with the statues, but the one behind the large iron door, opposite the Chapel). I tried various sneaking tactics. Approaching from the Pool Room side, from the courtyard with the statues and the entrance to the Chapel (through the large iron door), and from the side with the double doors and the staircase upstairs.
Nothing seemed to work. I tried to use as few water arrows as possible (I prefer to manage without them, if at all possible), but always got spotted. I tried flashbombs, which is a bad idea, obviously. Finally I just snuck very close to the guard from the staircase side, no water arrows, no flashbombs, and I was sure to get spotted; but no! Very carefully, crouched down, I got just close enough to lift the key! It seemed unbelievable that the guard didn't notice me, but I moved just millimeters at a time, and leaned forward to see when I was close enough.
A brilliant mission. I'm missing a little loot (a couple of hundred, tops), but other than that I'm nearly done with it, playing on 'Sneak'.

I black jacked the vault guards , however I didn't have any trouble with alerting them until I moved inside their respective rooms with black jack raised - no moss arrows involved . Try walking , crouched on the opposite side of their windows .

I ghosted the mission on expert. Didn't have a problem with the vault. I did as you did Mika. I shot a moss arrow in front of the vault and there was a dark spot before the door so no one saw or heard me.

OK, I thought as much, it is possible to ghost that part. Thanks for confirming that for me, taffers. I was probably just sneaking too close to the windows, and the guards spotted me because of that. I'll try it again. It really leaves me with a nasty taste in my mouth resorting to causing ruckus. :eww:

It is possible to ghost the entire mission, with the exception of one window, which you HAVE to break. Some spots are a bit tricky, but can definitely be done. Peter Smith and myself both ghosted it during betatesting. :)

What window? Didn't break any windows if I recall right.
