Bah, I had to skip that faulty cam vator modifying stuff in the strings folder.
Anyhow, t'was a great missions lots of fun. Loved the flying books and exceptionally well done mage technology. The "electricity" elementals were great! So were the worms & the fun reading about the time traveling chum.
Really interested how it all ended...
Did Garrett escape or did the ambush guards get him? Will Garrett ever bring revenge for ze curse? Where'd he get that cool cloak? hehehe
Oh can I please use some of the pretty AI and objects in my fm? I promise to give them different skins. They're really superb.

I can't find the research centre. Looking at previous posts it is
inside that tower where we found the 2 zombies pop up after reading that book in the original mission. However, I last played this level with T2 firrst came out so don't remember where that is. Can somebody relate it to the FM. Is it near the wizzards tower?
Alexius,
Sure, use the new AI and stuff. I'm going to send email to Rob Hicks and see if he wants to include anything in DedX.
BTW: The sequel is in the works, but don't hold your breath. It takes me so long to make a mission. This new one has so much custom stuff, it'll be awhile. And I think it has a much better story.
Sir Lance,
Check your map. Keeper Orlo's note says the only entrance they're aware of is in the old Necromancer's tower, which the wizards have recently purchased. So, on the map it says Necromancer's tower. Look around the first floor.

Am I the only one who uses the gong in the research centre as in integral step in solving the mission?

Have you tried using the gong? It doesn't do what it usually does in other missions....
As far as I remember it makes mages come to the dining-room... But I found it hard to avoid them after using the gong. I couldn't get off their way... :)
Great mission Shadowspawn , I've never moved so fast in an FM in my life ! Really scary!
I haven't read any of the previous posts as I don't want to spoil my enjoyment of this so if this has happened to any body else I apologise for the repetition
I knocked out the Arch mage got on the lift to take me back upstairs and elevatored straight back up into the middle of one of those skeleton thingies! Damn thing kept trying to attack me and missing ....got me eventually though
What a hoot !
I've just finished reading Terry Pratchet's Soul Music.... great book :D

Personally I found the floating skulls and mech/skeleton hybrids to be rather silly-looking and felt entirely new skins/meshes would've done more justice (though I'm sure many authors would do that if they could). Also, I hate to continually go against the grain so to say, but felt this mission didn't live up to it's predecessor,
Lorgan's Web, which was an awe-inspiring classic. It just seems (and I know I talk about it a lot, they are two subjects that stand out for me the most in any instance) the architecture was for the most part, another casualty of the old adage "Build a sprawling city? But surely each room, each corner will be lacking -- for when The Builder places boulder upon boulder, he must sacrifice the quiet and humble beauty of pebble placed upon pebble."
I think ultimately one should try to place as much care and thought into each individual place, regardless of it's importance in the scheme of things or story. If they don't truly love it enough to do this, to perfect and hone atmospheres strong enough to will the player to actually desire to go to that place in real life, they have failed. I know I didn't like at all how the outside areas were lit. True, it was a moonlit night, but it wouldn't be
that bright (or at least not that bright in the universe of Thief :laff:) and this lighting and lack of fog sort of ruined the whole Life of the Party atmosphere for me. I didn't feel the texts by the 'wizards' (I don't know why they simply weren't called 'Mages', because they were such.. Each author has freedom to create what they will, but I think the persona of a mage fits better) were too well thought out either. They sound like common folk; or worse, murderous and selfish common folk.. No better than the proverbial thug or Downwinder. Yes, it's cliche for them to be so educated and 'more pious than thou', but, like the cliche zombies, it worked for Thief.
Obviously a lot went into the technical aspects, and I can hardly give Shadowspawn enough credit for this, because I know little/nothing of this areas, but overall I just felt more time should've went into designing the areas, giving Mages their own unique (but not quite so eclectic) feel and building a more cohesive and likely story. Part of it is also that it just doesn't click with me; I just don't feel at home in the fan mission. And some of the reasoning behind that may be logical and some may not, so it's just the draw of the cards. I'm really sorry I can't find much positive to say (Linda would/will kill me), but I have tried :( I notice a lot of stuff, and there's only a certain amount of leeway before I see a ruined area; whether because of two slightly off textures, or some bit of architecture that may be unique but altogether wrong for my view of Thief. At least you can say most liked Lord Fishkill's Curse; I wish I were one of them.
Cheers (and don't take it too hard, I'm no expert or opinion of importance by any means),
deadman.

Thanks Shadowspawn. I'm now looking for the keeper again.
