:wot: I think the time I spent away from Lord Fishkill's Curse was time wasted, I finally got around to playing it again today. From the monsters spawning in front of my face and scaring the hell out of me, to the mages, to the monkey, to the Garrett comments, *drool* I loved it all!
But I come here to speak about Jimmy. :laff: Dear god, I love the Jimmy scene. I lost track of how many times I worked on my body surfing technique. Jumping off a tall building while holding a body, then dropping it at the right moment so that the body cusions your fall, guaranteed to keep you occupied for hours on end. :laff:
But I discovered a little something extra. Has to be an easter egg. I'd noticed a strange door earlier in the mission, it wouldn't open more than a tiny bit. Didn't think much of it. Finally, after getting Jimmy alive (although concussed) to his parents, I decided to follow them home to see if they magically vanished, or went into a specific building.
I tailed them for quite a while until, to my surprise, they walked right through the door I'd tried to use earlier in the mission! I tried to enter, but the door wouldn't open again. I kept frobbing it and suddenly a message appeared at the top of the screen:
Quote:
Can't you leave this couple in peace? What are you, a reporter?
:joke: Man, just another subtle touch that makes me love this mission even more! Gotta give two thumbs up to anyone who helped get this puppy together!
So . . . :sly: is there a sequel in the works?

"To Uncurse a Thief" is in the works. Having a few complexity issues at the moment, working on simplifying the terrain. Didn't notice it until I tried putting in an elevator or two, and totally screwed up the mission.
Some very nice new special effects, and a fair number of custom AI.
I'm hoping for a late spring / early summer release.
Back to work!

Yes, Fishkill's is a great FM, nice architecture, gameplay, technical tricks and humour. :)
Good to hear the sequel is still in the works and relatively close.

The combination
I listened to the orangutang, but I don't remember him giving me a combination for the amulet. Now when I frob him he says "I need to get the amulet. Shoo" or something like that.
He should have given you a book. I'm afraid you'll have to read some of it. :cheeky:

This FM is one of my alltime favourites. But in this replay (on Hard) I have run out of foes, and I don't know why. I have very carefully stood out in the brightest light I can find, - and nothing happens! No ultra-svelte warriors, no coluratura-soprano singers minus an appropriate body, no luminous arachnids, - just when I really need them to sort out a few mages. And I haven't even got to the Mages Tower!
My question is: is there a finite number of these lovely creatures? In previous replays they have been there, hiding in the shadows but ready to attack in light. Not this time
Is their number limited in Hard r/than Expert? I really enjoyed being able to use their skills in previous games. And I miss their scintillating company now that they have deserted me.
What's happening?

Ouch!
That's a new bug, I never heard of it before. There are infinite critters available.
I'm guessing that some script bug, or some tiny race condition in resetting the AI emitter got broken. (I used Garrett as an emitter to create the enemies when he stims an appropriate light source).
Do you have a recent save you can go back to where it works?
I'll look into it and try and fix it for the next mission. The curse is still in effect for the next mission. Even if it's masked by the amulet, you can always take it off. I don't want it to get broken the same way.

for the quick reply I'm very glad there are infinite foes, so I'll restart; I remembered having lots of fun with them in the research centre and the bank area, and using/dropping the amulet to get some control over when they appear.
It's a terrific fm, but not nearly as much fun without all the light-induced unfriendlies.
I'm so glad you are making a sequel to this, - one of the absolute classic fms.
