I'm still looking for the missing piece of the encryptian machine. I made it past the bridge into the area with the treebeast. I'm assuming the piece is somewhere in the vicinity.
billdun262 -If you heard the apebeast conversation then you know that the piece is
under a tree stump
. You are very close.
coreyb2 you didn't mention whether or not you pressed the button at the front bottom of the machine once you dropped in the letter. You have to do that. There is sometimes a timing glitch, so you may have to press the button more than once.
lonzie-so once you knew the code from
Morse code
you went back and saw how all the other clues applied to that number. Very good. I was hoping someone would do that. You seem to have gotten all the clues for the numbers.
Don't kill yourself trying to find an e-mail code though. There isn't one. Just PM me. I will be positive if you know what you are talking about if you type only one line. Just the crack please. That way I'll know. Then you get the easter egg.

I'm playing on expert, and I've got everything else except Rosie.
I pushed the 3-minute button and
ran all the way to the basement (the NEWS room). I sort of cleared the way in advance so nothing would stop me ;). Then I pushed the buttons in the correct -- I think -- sequence, just like on the weathervane. But nothing happened. I noticed there's a drain cover under the elevator.
Should that open? Or should I run somewhere else?

Use your own compass, not the weathervane. No need to run anywhere else

That thing had me fooled, too.
Did anyone else notice it has east to the left of north?:p

Is there a way to get up to the guards in the towers...I never found it and one of the guards has a healing potion on his side belt so you would assume that we could reach him:confused:
Nightwalker on 3/11/2003 at 19:33
Yes, you can get up there. That fooled me the first time through, too.
The entrance to each of the towers is underneath the Watchers in the four corner of the wall around the City Watch Station.
I am assuming there's no way to deactivate those watchers so i could get pass without getting killed?
Sluggs on 3/11/2003 at 19:48
The levers are in the same place where the guards in the towers are.
Those turrets didn't work for me, they kept firing into the ground! I've seen this alot in missions, including my own and i'm not sure why they do this.

Yes, there is a control switch which will de-activate 2 watchers in each tower. It de-activates the watchers closest to that particular tower, on both sides of the wall. If you get to all four towers, then all eight watchers are shut of. Darkness and timing, and also depending on how you play the game you may have two invisibility potions as well.
The entrances to these towers is directly in each corner of the inside walls surrounding the armoury. I know it may be harder to shut off that way, but I didn't think it would make any sense to anyone, even in the Thief world, to shut off the watchers from outside of the area they are watching. It's quite doable though, and there are some other small rewards up there for your troubles.
