For the folks who are stuck on this mission, there's now a nice walkthrough at thiefmissions.com courtesy of Freddy Fox, complete with hidden spoilers. Head to (

Finished! ffox, thanks for the advice, and Jocke for sympathy :) As usual though I'm almost 900 short of loot  Nevermind, where's the fun otherwise... :D

I rescued poor Rosie, closed the cage behind her, and took her back where she should be; the objective checked off.
Then I returned all the way back to the cage and opened it again... and Rosie instantly teleported from her bed right back to where she had been in the cage, unchecking the objective en passante!
I reloaded and tried it a few times... the same thing happened every time.
It's not a game buster; I just reloaded and managed to restrain myself from opening the cage door again. But I thought it was pretty weird, no?

Blame the BetaTesters! :laff:

I must admit that it never occurred to me to return there after I took Rosie home! I guess nobody else thought of it either. At least it doesn't hurt anything in the mission and you can still complete it. Despite the best efforts of betatesters, we never catch everything.
uncadonego on 4/11/2003 at 16:16
Yes, the beta testers can't catch everything. Those two foibles (the rubies teleporting back and Rosie as well).....I'm not sure whether it's worth putting out V2 or not. I don't think so personally. I don't shut the door down there, and why anyone would put the sswitch back and then open it again is kind of odd as well. I don't consider a bug major unless it prevents you from finishing the game. Maybe that's just me.
I don't blame the beta testers for anything that was missed. They worked hard and repeatedly played the game time after time with new tweaks. As far as I'm concerned anything wrong with the FM is my fault, and not the fault of testers. We shouldn't ever blame testers for anything. Imagine this: "beta testers needed. Will be held responsible for anything that the next 1000 players find wrong. Send e-mail if you're interested."
Hmmm. Thanks, but no thanks.
Leave Rosie's door open. Don't re-activate the switch that hides the rubies....ta-da!!!!:laff:
Who knows.....I may tweak it again someday...But would anyone really download it and play it again just for a couple of foibles that can so easily be avoided? I don't think very many would......
ffox on 4/11/2003 at 18:28
Please let all of us beta testers know WHY you did that strange thing?

Thanks Don for your words...
I was just about to call my lawyer to prevent claims for damage and recourse :wot: .
But now I feel relieved and ready for the next betatest :cheeky:

Is there a list of the 10 secrets? I finished the Hard and Expert now and only found 9 of the 10 secrets both times. Just wondering if there was a list available.:) I hate when I don't find all the secrets!!!!;)
