T2 FM: Moth to a Flame (Jun. 29, 2004) - by madwolf

EDIT:
As usual, posting here seems to be what I need to solve something on my own - I found the lever for the gate, right there where I'd left my head when it became unattached :laff:
ORIGINAL POST:
I'm utterly embarrased to admit that I've stuck on the first map, unable to do the following (playing on expert):
(1) I can't find a key to the gaol, (2) I can't find Lady McCloud's missing ring (although I found the coins, the attic, and the loose change), (3) Can't get into Lady McCloud's house - where on earth is the trademan's entrance? There's a gate to the left of the unfrobbable doors but I see no way to open them, and to the right is a fenced area that I can't access, (4) near the bank, I heard guards walking around and see small open windows above the arch that starts the tunnel opening out to the theater, but no way inside, (5) I roped over the metal roofed shack to find the sewer entrance - took care of the two burricks but can't open the sewer cover on the other side, the one with the air pressure gauge, and worst of all, (6) I can't find a way to open the gate that leads to the next map.
I think I've mined every nook and cranny, but I MUST be missing something utterly obvious as noone else has been or is stuck as I am. Feh.
I found the two levers to open the portcullis' at Auldsdale market, have swam all over the canal, finding both ladders to the rooftop areas, and some hidden rooms, climbed the crates early on for the single room, found the note to Roberts, got the key from the Power Supply place from under the bucket and used it on the gate nearby, also got a key off of a guard and opened the gate that she stood before. I've knocked out every body I can, on general principals, save the pagans near the starting point and the folks in the pub.
I don't want answers to everything, just a hint to get me going again, if you please. I'm just running around in circles at this point, feeling like a dork :p
It's a gorgeous mission, by the way. I love the tall, tall buildings - I've been craning Garret's neck, looking everywhere I can for places to sink rope arrows and managed to get into one fenced balcony area by roping into the top left edge of the theater roof. :D
Thanks in advance for any hints!
Cheers!

Hello!
Seeking a hint, if you please:
One to find Lady McCloud's ring, and another to get into her house...
Cheers!

Melissa - The ring may have fallen down the drain in front of the theatre
I don't think you can get into the house, but I could be wrong.
The next map - Ther's a lever on the wall at the bottom of the ramp by the Auldsdale/Market signpost

I have to say I love this mission, always loved city miissions but always got lost in CL. But this one was fairly easy to not get lost yet enough secret nooks
and crannies. That made it way cool in my book.

Hi,
I've searched, and haven't found a thread specific to this FM, so I'm thinking that either everyone has had no problems whatsoever completing this mission (which makes me an idiot), or I've run into a small bug.
First, I'm thoroughly enjoying this mission. I like the architecture which forces the player to find certain areas in unusual ways. Lots of loot to be found in small, hard-to-get-to places. My thumb is WAY UP in the air to madwolf. :thumb:
Second, my situation. I've completed the loot objective (at 7308 so far), and released Edwin, so I THINK the only objective I need to complete in order to finish is "Get the bank haul". I am now
in the Old Gaol, and I think the bank haul is in the downstairs prison area behind a locked wooden door, but I can't find a key to open this door, and it is unbashable.
I've searched all unconscious bodies, and I only have one door/gate left unlocked throughout the city, which is the one to the Warren (haven't found a key to that one either).
A couple of unusual things that I've done that may have "broken" something:
1. In the Old Gaol upstairs room (with the weapons), I found and grabbed a grey key floating in the air in the middle of the room.

2. In the Old Gaol prison (downstairs), in the prison cell closest to the wooden door (to the left), I saw a floating button near the ceiling, so (naturally) I jumped up and pressed it, afterwhich it immediately disappeared.
Can anyone please let me know if I've missed something, or done something wrong?
Many thanks! :)

I don't think either of those things have "broken" anything. We betatesters didn't spot them. :o
You're looking in the wrong place for the Bank haul. Have you
been in the Warrens? There's a locked gate into it with a sign beside it. The Mayor has the key hidden in his house. It's the one you get into by rope arrowing up on the building just to the left, then walking across some windowledges with flower boxes on them and going through an open window. There's a lever hidden behind a small blue sofa in one of the upstairs rooms.
Got it, nightwalker, Thank you! :)
...I had previously been in that house, and can't believe I missed that. I'm back on track now.

That's odd, I just did a search and Moth to a Flame's thread didn't appear for me either. Don't worry bassmanret, other people got stuck too ! :ebil:
Nightwalker on 31/7/2004 at 12:31
I think it wasn't showing up because there was no space in between the "FM" hyphen and "Moth" so it was being read as one word (New FM-Moth to a Flame). I've edited the title of the original thread so it hopefully will show up in future searches. :)
bassmanret on 31/7/2004 at 19:04
Yep, it now shows up in a search. Thanks, Nightwalker. It's a pretty long thread, too, so I guess I don't feel so bad for getting stuck. I wish I'd found that before posting this one, though.
Finished it btw, and absolutely loved it. Excellent stuff, madwolf! City missions are my favorite! :)
