Of course, as usual, I discovered many of the answers shortly after posting. I can run around in circles for an hour, and as soon as I post, things start to resolve themselves.
Now I just need to find out:
1. how to get into that locked room with all the records in it
2. hard evidence
(probably in that locked room with the records)3. where are those human noises coming from inside the warden's office? I KO'd everybody not behind bars in the mission!
4. the
pocket watch the warden mentioned
5. the identity of the mysterious, unfrobbable dead guy who appeared stuck inside the elevator platform after I turned the lights back on. I never KO'd any civilians near there! I panned 3 civilians on the noggin, and they are all still where I hid them.
This post should answer most of your questions:

..... if you can't find it - extra hint
look above head heightCould you have crushed the civilian guy with the elevator :laff:

Is the mystery guy in the lift shaft in Mechanist garb? If so, he's the repairman who was summoned the first time you shut the power off. Although he never goes near the lift so it's still a mystery how he got there.

Here's another mystery -
I see from the posts that I should have had some interaction with the jailed officer. I bopped the guard while he faced towards the cell, the same guard who fell through the elevator. I guess I must have broken the mission by way of not knowing they were involved in a "conversation." Maybe you'll see something in the savegames I emailed you...

optional side-quest. If the prisoner not talk to you afterwards, then yeah, you probably broke that conversation and the following one with the prisoner, but no more, I guess.

I would agree with gnartsch on that, it's only an optional objective although you robbed yourself of the opportunity by doing that. I'll look at your savegame this evening, got company about to arrive for dinner.

Finished on expert, great mission, lots packed in there. I struggled badly to get to 3K in loot, only to find out in the end stats that there's around 4100 possible! I can't imagine where the rest of it might be stashed.
Question though - was any purpose served by grabbing the gold watch?
Tannar on 6/5/2013 at 03:04
Yes, there are some devilishly clever hiding places for the loot. And the worst part is that it's all actually visible, none of it is hidden so that you have to blindly frob. I kicked myself many times during testing because I had overlooked loot that was plainly visible with just a modicum of attention.
As for the watch, I think you just get the satisfaction of taking it away from that evil man and returning it to Shylock.
Yandros on 6/5/2013 at 03:10
The gold pocketwatch is mentioned in the Warden's journal - he took it from the body of Shylock's father as a prize and planned to keep it. You get to return it to its rightful owner.
Renault on 6/5/2013 at 03:42
Right, I caught all that, but it's not really required or part of any kind of optional objective or anything like that, I'm assuming?
