You really want to ask me that?

I'm feeling reckless.

I thought an open cell door might be suspicious! First time for everything, you know. :o
I could see myself doing that except for ONE thing... I wouldn't think cell doors would be designed to be opened from the inside. (No matter how many FM's let you do it) -- It's why I liked Cragscleft with the remote switches for the doors... but I'm weird, Cragscleft is my favorite mission.
Still, that's pretty funny...

The cell doors in this mission are the same way, only opened via control levers normally; using the master key with the power off is an override only. As for all that business above your post, well I went at lengths not to mention you by name Nickie, but apparently you thought it suitable to own up to it, so for that I commend you!

I appreciated your tact Russ. :)
But really, testing's about trying to do everything, sensible or otherwise, although I agree there probably isn't anyone else quite as daft as me.

Now the contest is over - and not that it was much surprise probably who made this one - I would like to thank R_T and Tannar publicly for going along with my little idea. R_T ended up doing well over half the actual work on this mission - most of the actual terrain building, and the amazing job he did placing all those objects in the offices and storerooms to make it feel real. Not to mention the incredible voice work he did with the ghost and the victrola recording.
One reason R_T and I decided to make this an undercover mission is because we both had always wanted to do one, and saw this as a good opportunity (small mission, contest). Now I know why they are done so rarely, they're really hard to pull off technically in the Dark engine.
I thought it might be interesting at this point to throw a few "did you notice" things in this thread now as well. So...
* If you go to the door of the new interrogation room (near the start, through the room with the large crates) before you ever get the key, you hear a prisoner being tortured. The lines might sound a bit unusual, and that's because they are our tribute to Radiohead. If you're a fan, I encourage you to check it out.
* The missing page from Jored's journal, which completes the saga of Basil the rat (which is a (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072500/?ref_=sr_1) Fawlty Towers reference), is in the fireplace in the kitchen. Check it out if you missed it. Also, you may have noticed that the rat owner's name is (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067991/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl) Willard.
* You may have missed the repairman. The first time you shut off the power, after about 2 minutes, a Mechanist worker arrives at the basement door and goes to the power room. He comments on the dead rat, then figures out the power has just been shut off and turns it back on. If you turn it back before he gets there, though, he decries people wasting his time and turns around and leaves. (At least, he does that when there isn't some random bug about it.)
* All of the prisoner voices (seven of them) are new. There are some humorous lines if you sit around in the cell block and just listen to them. Also, the creepy psychopath voice in the first solitary cell (which cannot be opened) is one of them, and was voiced by R_T. My favorites are the two who sing, though; I still find myself singing "Gone, gone! My love has gone!" even when not playing the mission. :erg: Those are both done by R_T as well.
* The salty pirate-voiced staff member, Revus, was voiced by MasterThief3 as a prisoner originally, but we had more need of another staff member than another prisoner.

I was enjoying this one, but unfortunately, the ghost never disappeared after the conversation, so I can't complete.:(
Yandros on 17/5/2013 at 17:43
Sorry to hear that. :( We never saw that in testing.
If you email me your save game, I'll fix it so you can continue.

Done, Yandros. Thank you.:thumb:
