Ieldra,
About the sword:
The vial of holy water is only available if you're playing on normal or hard. If you've reactivated the fountains, go back to the church and frob one of them. You'll get holy water arrows, and you can shoot one at the sponge.
is the sword necessary for the play?

Why you sneaky little bugger! That was a blast I tell you. Great architechture, wonderfull technical effects, creepy mood, good jokes, total surprises, argh! Now I'm depressed because my mission is but a fly in the wind compared to thine...;)

Master Garett,
No worries. As soon as you'll need the sword, you'll be able to access the crypt and the church again.
billynone,
Read the Antiquary Letter, it contains a hint what you have to do there. Look at the floor of the one corridor where no burrick is inside (after all gates have been opened).
Eshaktaar... I have nothing but praise for this mission. Some things that take it above the pale, to my mind, as follows (and please, keep in mind that I have not finished thus far!!!)
1) The map - perfect. Very reminiscent of the OM, very flavourful. It may sound like a small thing, but it made things click from the outset.
2) The moon - This was something of an unexpected pleasure. Something beautiful, as well.
3) The twisting of the rope - After I realized why that sound kept recurring past that one particular spot, it raised the hair on the back of my neck each time I had to creep past the room. And slipping into it... frisson. Thank you for actually creeping me out.
4) The skillet - a very, very nice touch. I especially like the bonk that it makes.
I'm enjoying it immensely (and taking a brief pause before I slip back into the game... just before I confront the sound of a twisting rope...)
