Done, done, done! :D:D:D
So you DO get the key to those double doors in the church!!!
Thank you, thank you, that was one of the grandest times I've had in a mission!
On Expert, wound up with 7290/8000 loot, and 7/8 secrets.
I just looked and there was supposed to be one in the library in the Mages place? I thought I combed that room! Would that take care of the rest of the loot? Anyone want to give me a hint?
Cheers!

I'm looking forward to taking the time to play through this one again, on expert. I may even try to ghost it (too bad it's not perfect ghostable though), which would be a first for me.
The walkthrough for this one would be pretty lengthy - is anyone working on one yet? And how about a lootlist?

Version 2 is out: I've removed a few bugs and added German language support. Check the update at (
http://www.thiefmissions.com/) thiefmissions.com. The alternative downloads will update soon, as well.
We've made a loot list, already, it just needs a small update. I'll let you know when it's done.

I'm surprised Eshaktaar didn't announce it, but there's an update at my site that contains a German translation and a few bugfixes. Visit (
http://thiefmissions.com/info.cgi?m=OminousBequestV2) if you want to grab it. If you're hosting a mirror, please pull the update and contact me if you need me to clear your quota.
No lootlist or walkthrough yet, but I'm always happy to host either should someone write them.
Finally, it occurs to me that some of the problems could be solved via the mechanism employed in Gathering at the Inn. When you read the appropriate scroll with the hint on it, the important portion could be recorded on a map page.
Edit: well crap, I type too slowly.

This mission was irrirating... it was nicely designed but it was hard to get through... in the begining there was no notion of "what to do next" like the secret door to the vault and stuff...
Also I didn't like how some of the things were... like... why the fuck is the attic pole in the vault? Is it like a sacred object? Whats with the hammer-head in the vault? The guy likes hammers. And how the painting and the switches were connected for no reason, no real story behind that... all in all.. it was an ok mission, great design, hard and some things didn't fit
My $0.02 (and review :p)

Well, this was a fun mission. Using the substitute for a blackjack was amusing for a bit, but I think a good thief like Garrett would have preferred a real one once the novelty wore away. Some hint to the "key" needed to open the attic doors would have been nice - I must have spent several hours looking for a way in there. What I liked the most - the sprinklers at the start of the game. :)
I found all the parts of the diary but I never triggered any "get all the diary parts" quest. Not sure why or where that normally would have happened.

Polychromic,
The optional objective about the diary parts triggers when you pick up the diary itself in the southern attic (where the ghost was sitting). Could it be you overlooked this one?
