That question has already been answered a time or two here, but to save you the searching
you need to go back through the sewers to the burrick area and look for a door that has now opened for another way back to the mansion and thence back down to the church through the main doors.
This is off topic, but could someone post the link to the thread where somebody made a joke, that went along the lines of - hmm garrett i'd like to raise his blackjack. Thanks. I need the exact quote for a signature BTW.

Where is the sword? I don't know how the sword will help anyway. There are too many haunts around in the chapel for me to kill. I can't possibly get to the holy water before getting killed.
What is this I am hearing about the riddlers treasure? Never ran across that yet. any hints?

pale -
You need the sword near the end of the mission so it's important that you find it. Check the hallway that leads to the big round crypt room with the "pillar" in the middle. There's a stone that you can remove near the picture of a body that is facing a different direction than all the rest. Push the button behind the stone, then go out into the round room and look for a niche where the coffin has sunk down into the floor. Jump into there and you'll find a secret door to frob. Explore in there and you'll find the area with the sword as well as the Riddler's Tomb. (You need holy water to get the sword, so if you're playing on Expert, you need to have figured out how to make the sponge a "holy sponge" for this part.)
I am really stuck.
I have made my way back to the churchand found Kadar. I now need to kill him. I gather I need a holy sword to do this and the book of souls. A previous post also mentioned you need to turn a sprinkler system on to get holy water. The only one I know is the one outside the mansion and I have already turned that on. I have the sponge. Where is the sword?
Nightwalker on 21/8/2003 at 13:49
Sir Lance -
You don't need to turn the sprinkler system on. The fountains at the front of the church were switched to regular water and you need to change them back to holy water. There's a room in the sewers (Go into Robert Farrington's tomb, out through the ventilation shaft to the sewers) where you'll find a button to switch it over. Then "Use" the fountain to get holy water arrows and use one of those on the sponge.
You don't need to find the Book of Souls again, you need to destroy it. When you're in the church, look up, look WAAAAAY up. :-) That's what you need the sword to destroy.
To find the sword, read the answer I wrote for pale just above your post. :)

I sure wish I could take that sponge with me on other missions...

Best plot ever.
Everything else was pretty good too.
Thanks to you and all who work to keep this great game alive!

Thanks nightwalker
I thought there was somthing strange about those figures or bodies or what ever they are. There is a vase way up at the top I wonder if any one has ever gotten it? I will be one tricky move to get that sponge holyed (hallowed?).
Ahhh! I had tried to rope up there earlier in the game but my arrows disapeared into the wood beams so I didn't try again. With this game play things need to be tried at different times.
Great game. This one is on my FANTASTIC list.

Actually, I had no problems with the endgame. I managed to
move pretty quickly from the entrance, up the stairs and into a position to rope up to the book. I managed not to be seen or heard by the haunts at all. Oddly, Kadar saw me once I was upstairs and took off for the stairway but once I roped up he lost sight of me and returned to his starting point. I didn't kill any of the haunts directly (God knows I didn't want to either).
