[Eshaktaar]
Brilliant mission. I finished it a couple of days ago (after a two-week hiatus for my holiday to Yosemite). I'm pretty sure I ghosted it --
-- per your suggestion (you or somebody), I reloaded from before I took the sword, thus avoided alerting the haunt who appears at that point.
The only two things I did which violate the ghost rules were:
First, cut the wire, which violates the ban on destruction of property, and second, blow the burrick horn, which of course alerts the burricks.
But since both of those are required to complete objectives, I think Addendum 1 to the Ghost rules covers them both.
I thought the Riddler's Tomb was too easy; I breezed through it in about five minutes. But the rest was good and hard... I needed several hints and a couple of outright spoilers to get through it (I don't think that busts ghost, does it? I didn't use a walkthrough or lootlist, but I got some advice.)
One other thing: I mentioned on the Eidos forums that when I finished, I had a peculiar stat of one body found by enemies... but I didn't leave any bodies! I didn't knock anyone out or kill anyone, or even get more of a reaction from any guards than "musta been rats." The only thing I can think (suggested by Peter Somebody over there) was that:
When I destroyed the book, which was floating in the rafters of the Hammerite temple, after the church had been turned into an unholy temple for the undead, Kadras died; maybe somebody saw him croak? But I thought all the undead dropped first.
Anyway, stats were:
Time: 8:56:08
Loot: 7270 out of 8000
pockets: 6 out of 7
locks: 16
secrets: 6 out of 8
...and of course, zero damage given or taken, no KOs, no kills, &c. Not the best runthough I've seen here, but certainly the best I could do the first time.
All in all, one of the best FMs I've played so far.
When's the next one? :eww:

For all the people who want to find the last piece of loot, there is now a loot list at thiefmissions.com. Thanks to Peter Smith for making it.
Dafydd,
About the body found by enemies stat:
I think that's due to the haunts getting killed as soon as you hit the book. Just before they fall down, they might see each other die, similar to what happens if you knock out two AIs in close succession that can see each other: The second AI starts to cry "murder!", although you blackjacked it already.
Eshaktaar, I put the message in silver font between the asterisks , please highlight and read. I dont know how to do the spoiler thing
**I can jump through the air and destroy the book, but then I fall to my death. Was I supposed to get a slow fall potion somewhere along the line? Or am I missing something else? I still havent been through the other set of double doors in the cathedral either and I left the amulet of life in the crayfish den, was I supposed to take it?**
This mission is definitely top five in my book. The rebirth of Kadras and the cathedral in the end are top notch.

P.S. thanks OldMan for the info

Sorry list, I thought the silver would mask the message better, it doesnt give too much away I hope.

Alex read below:
You don't have to jump to destroy the book. I am assuming you've made it to the stone platform/circle suspended from the ceiling with the book floating in the center, right? Well you'll notice there are three "arms" protruding from the circle towards the center. Walk out to the very edge of the longest one (you'll be facing the organ side of the church if you're on the correct "arm"). Lean forward and attack with your sword -- provided you're as close to the edge as you can get you should be able to make contact with the book and destroy it with one swing.
AFAIK there are no slow-fall potions in this mission, so the way to get down is as follows: Shoot a rope arrow at the wooden criss-cross on the ceiling near the front of the church (the "organ" side). Leap/run off the circular platform from a position closest to the rope and grab it. From there you should be able to jump off onto the balcony immediately above the altar.
Best of luck!
p.s. to make something print as a "spoiler", do the following:
{SPOILER} your text here blah blah blah {/SPOILER}, except use brackets "[, ]", instead of braces "{, }"

I hit the forcefield barring the way into the church from the crypts, so I took out the head of some wizard I've been carrying ever since I got the rod to open the attic. Threw the head at the forcefield and the head became ALIVE and floated through the air back at me and whacked me with a golden hammer! Zounds! Anyone else have that happen? A very funny surprise.

yes indeed!
read below:
the head serves no purpose in actually completing the game. however it can be great fun in taking out a number of other enemies. a group of guards, for example. or, my personal favorite: burricks -- toss the head into the arena and watch 'em go at it. 'tis great fun.
two warnings about using it, though:
1) you have to throw it hard enough so that you hear it "break". that is to say... imagine the head itself is inside an invisible eggshell -- you have to throw the egg hard enough to break open and let the head out.
2) the skull seems to have little to no effect on hammers/haunts, so don't try using it to take out the hammers in the church -- they'll all start attacking you instead!
i think the "head of doom" is a brilliant addition to the thief universe, and i hope to see it utilised in more of Eshy's missions.

Hello Taffers:
I'm in the tunnel off of the family tomb. I saw the half buried skeleton. I saw the pick on the floor. I went into an area with a dead burrick. Now what do I do ??? I got the sword and all the objectives marked off on NORMAL. HMMMMM !!! Many thanks for any help.................. The Geez:confused:
Eshaktaar on 8/9/2003 at 14:03
That's one of the bugs I've corrected since version 1. It shouldn't be possible to enter that passage from the family tomb, because it's supposed to be an exit from the other side. Don't worry, though, the mission can still be completed (but if you have a former savegame just before you opened that secret door in the family tomb, feel free to reload it).
The exit you're looking for is in the sewers: In Robert Farrington's tomb, there's a ventilation hatch that can be opened by a switch in a room nearby. Go through it and head for the exit.
At the current rate of great new releases, Mike never gets to finish his Dromed mission..... :( :) Bittersweet it is.
