Even on normal, this is mission can be a real challenge. It has many puzzles and some hard (although totally avoidable) opponents. However, it is also an amazing and very enjoyable mission. It is well-worth the effort of a few challenges.:thumb:
Okay, now for a way inside . . .
There are two ways in (without needing a key) I believe. Look on your map for the garden sheds. Next to one, you will find a wall vine which can be climbed (like a ladder) to reach the second story window. I believe it goes into a bedroom or study on the second floor.
Another way to get in is near the other garden shed. A guard is standing next to a pair of wooden doors leading down into the basement by this shed. If you go in the shed and flip the switch, sprinkers :D will turn on. The guard will leave his post to turn them off. While he is gone, pick the lock and slide down the coal shute. Now you are in the basement.
I prefer the second mode of entry because it puts you closer to your blackjack. Open the door in the furnace room, but be careful. There is a guard patrolling the hallway. Wait untill he is gone off to the right and head to the left. This way will lead you to the kitchen. In the kitchen you will find one stationary servant and occationally an other one will walk through on a long patrol. Look for a blackjack replacement in here. Then explore the rest of the mission. :thumb:
If you still can't find a good blackjack, read the following spoiler . . .
The frying pan next to the kitchen fire is your new weapon. Make it yours :)
The gate in the sewers won't open untill you have the three gemstones, the talisman of life, the horn, all your loot, and the rest of the major objectives checked off.
If you have finished all of them and the gate is still closed, the game may have a problem of some kind. However, I haven't heard of anyone else getting hung up at this point, so definately double-check your goals list.
Thanks very much! I hadn't noticed that
switch in the shed
and it never occured to me to try to
climb the vine
. Alright, I'm off. Thanks again. :D

An addendum. Having finished this I've been playing around with a couple of fms which, while enjoyable, just aren't as satisfying after Ominous Bequest. So, my question - when's the next one out? Next week maybe? Please?

Well, I just now finished this mission, and all I can say is "Oh my dear, sweet LORD!" It's really one of the best, if not THE best, mission I've ever played. Not that that is saying alot, but you oughtta know by now how incredibly awesome your FM is. It had it all... instead of just focusing on one type of mission, you managed to add pretty much everything into the mix. And the storyline/plot is just AMAZING!
Sorry, I'm not very good with words... So I'll just leave it at: Thanks for the most incredibly awesome mission I've ever played!

Wow, I haven't played this yet, but after seeing all this, I'm downloading it right away! From the looks of it alone, it rivals that of the 7th Crystal and The Inverted Manse. Great work!

7th Crystal and Inverted Manse are truly incredibly good missions, but Ominious is definitely "even better". I'm still not over it... ooh boy! I'm playing it again! :D

I like Ominous Bequest, but how can you say its better than Inverted Manse?
Inverted Manse had so much custom jun- uh... stuff.
I love this mission though, I wish there was more undead though only like 7 currently.

Well, I'm back on this thread again.
I have a strange problem.
I played this FM three times and all went well, of course with the help of the forum. Now I tried to play it again. All went well but now I'm stuck. I'm standing on the largest ledge near to the ceiling of the church, where I have to grab the book. I tried all, but I can't grab the book and if I move more forward on the ledge I fall down and die. That's such a frustrating feeling, so close to the end of the game .....!
Does anyone know what the problem is. All objectives are OK so far, except for the "don't kill anyone" objective, since I haven't ended the game and the "find an other way out" objective. That's logical.
So .......... help? ....... please???

do you have a key binding for lean forward? if you stand on the sides and lean forward its easy to grab.
