Just begun and it is truly excellently designed and plotted - playing it is like being the protagonist in a an old-fashioned film, which is the perfect Thief experience to my mind. I eagerly await the promised sequel.:thumb:

I've also just started this excellent looking FM.
It actually feels like an OM.
Lot's of detail and very well put together.
Gotta love the black jack replacement, and I thought the way you distract the guard to get into the coal shoot was just wonderful.
In short: Exelent FM :thumb:
One thing left in my mind was: When in Ridlers tomb. How were you suposed to get down. Because I got down there by jumpping on the corner of the sargophagus and from there slided down and while doing this I lost no health. Then found warter and fire arrow. What was the meanig of the place. Was it the secret on the other side of the fall. There I got by jumping on the sargophagus and imidiedly jumping again and then mantling up there. In this I lost most of the hit points, so I don´t think it is the right way.

LJT,
Read the second floor plate, it tells you what you're supposed to do in the tomb:
One of the pillars emits a low hum ("Progress comes to those who listen"). Search it for a switch that opens an entrance in the floor. This is the safe way down.
After that, put out the torch with a water arrow and shoot a fire arrow at the tear symbol that appears on the opposite side (light goes out, tear goes up in flames).
I let you figure out the rest ;)
Thank you, Eshaktaar, for a wonderful mission! If just all FMs and OMs could be as enjoying! I really liked the twist and turn of the mission after finding the crypt, manor/tomb is my style. Some tough puzzles too. Nice!
Well, on to the ghosting. Hope it can be done, though. I think the
apparition by the sword and blowing the horn by the burricks could cause problems. Blowing the horn prior to reading the scroll might work, or maybe wait to get the sword until after killing Kadar...
...will try this.
Thanks again!

Whoa, this mission is painfully good. The architecture is beautiful and very well laid out, the puzzules are fun, the clues are appropriate and well written, little bit of humor, awesome atmosphere, the setting transitions micely from straight mansion to crypt/tomb (offering a really good vairiety), the map is accurate and well drawn (but still lacking the appropriate areas)...just all around amazing. Eshaktaar, you have really created an incredibly fun, interesting and well told storyline.
Actually, I have found this mission so good that I want to live up to it with my playing style, overcoming my usual lack of scruples and trying not to read the spoilers and hints throughout this thread to get past the hard spots. However, I would like a litte reassurance that I am not getting too off track or going to ruin the flow of the mission...
I am playing on expert and have just recently found my way into the nameless riddler's tomb and the evil looking shrine with the sword. However, I have only found one of the sisterstones (icetear...from the cold storage) and the hunting dragon painting from the list of things I am supposed to steal from farrington's will. I haven't found a way to turn off the electricity for the horn, get into the NE tower or the attic, gotten proof of the mages tomb (although I have read several clues that point towards th idea that it is a mages tomb),opened the vault or found the talisman of life. I am not really asking for hints about how to solve these conundrums, I just want to know if by going down to explore the crypts before finding all of the other things I am going to get the story kind of screwed up or really regret it? Do I need to go back upstairs and take care of the rest of the business or am I safe to keep exploring deeper (which I started to do because the other problems were totally stumping me)?
Thanks for keeping me on the right track,
jay
oh, and congratualtions again Eshaktaar! I am really enjoying this mission and looing forward to Unholy Alliance (is it a sequel to Ominous Bequest or a totally different storyline?)

Again, thanks for all your comments, folks!
klatremus,
The apparition by the sword can be ghosted by crawling away backwards as soon as you've got the sword. Unfortunately, the burricks can't be evaded entirely, as the horn only works when the doors are already open. Another thing that busts ghosting is the electrical wire you have to cut (property damage).
jay,
If you are playing the latest version of the FM (2.0b) there shouldn't be any dead ends you could get yourself into. You can go on exploring the crypts, just keep in mind that sooner or later you have to go back to the manor to get some of the items. Many of the things you haven't found yet are connected. A small tip: Try to locate and open the vault (and its two inner doors) as soon as possible. You'll find something that'll give you access to some more areas.
Unholy Alliance will be a sequel to Ominous Bequest, taking place a few months after the events at Farrington Manor.

Nevertheless, this is a tough mission to ghost, especially since I can't accept 1st level alerts (Musta been rats).
Was unable to get the flash bomb from the locker farthest away from Benny without alerting him. Had to switch off the light, but didn't have enough time before he gave a grumpf. I could take the bomb without opening the door though, small bug perhaps. Also didn't manage to move through the inner garden/park area without the guard on the balcony above seeing me and making a comment. Had to get the house key via the kitchen, then enter the greenhouse from outside (surprisingly this was easy without being alerted). Now i have the sponge to douse some lights with. Tricky!
Looking forward to Unholy Alliance, keep up the great work Eshaktaar!

I am kind lost, I am stuck at a certain point, after leaving Lord Farringtons tomb, and
working my way into the sewers to find way to circular arena I need to operate a switch, but can not seem to find it
I have look all over for a way to open that gate, but cant seem to find any..
any help or direction on where to go next, or if ineed I am going in the correct direction would be helpful..
I have gotten the
into the Riddlers Tomb and got the sword
and now I left the Riddlers Tomb
