I'll try that.
It's a shame that there wasn't more of that Bach piece.

Thanks for playing. :)
The sequel will be out later this year.
How much later, by the way? I have been anxiously looking forward to what at least used to be called "Unholy Alliance".... Is it still in 2 missions?
Ominous Bequest was one of the first FM's I ever played, and it was mind-blowingly good. It started out as a simple "rob the manor" mission(which I like very much - it's quite satisfying to simply rob a manor) and then became so much more. My wife and I were up until 4 AM finishing that one; we couldn't stop until we'd beaten it, it was too intense!

It's still two missions, yes. I can't release the first one as a separate FM, though, because the player's inventory will be carried over into the next one.
It's hard to say how much longer it'll take me, but a first beta version is at the least one month away.

What an amazing mission Eshaktaar
I knew this was a good mission, but I didnt expect this. One that goes hand in hand with other classic mansion missions like Rowena's Curse, The Seventh Crystal and Heist Society. Excellent job.
But damn it was tough. It was also one of the most difficult mission I ever played. It requires not a lot of searching but regular a lot of thinking as well. I played more then 4 hours on Expert and more then once I had to search this 29! :wot: page thread for clues (and at the end I still didnt find all the secrets and loot :eww:).
But if you manage to solve all it's riddles you're being rewarded.
Not only a good main story, but many smaller ones as well with
Benny's new job as my favorite.
Finding all those donuts in his locker was hilarious :joke:, one of his best adventures I've seen so far.
Lots of secrets and objectives (as well as some bonus and optional), original replacements for blackjack and sword, many new items, nice music, classic maps, beautiful detailed locations, and original ways of completing objectives made this an almost perfect experience. The riddle tiles in the crypts, the various artifacts and the organ in the church were other welcome surprises (seems I have a sense for the dramatic ;))
And after
putting Elizabeth back into her grave It confirmed what I already hoped..I'm noble:cheeky:. I did this before with
the bodies of Sherrif Truart (Blackmail) and Brother Renault (Return to the Haunted Cathedral)The few things that disappointed me were the absence of a briefing and in-game movies. Another point is the lack of atmosphere inside the garden and mansion like The Seventh Crystal had, but you compensated this with excellent underground areas (tombs, crypts).
These are only few small scratches on a golden plate. You created an outstanding mission that does almost everything right :thumb:
Others may have said it already but I agree that your mission showed a lot of similarities with Rowena's Curse. But no matter coincidence or borrowed ideas, there are luckily still enough differences to be found between both missions. I'm really looking forward to (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75010) Unholy Alliance.
I've added your mission to my recommended list of Thief 2 missions. It's rating and comment can be found (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100242) here.
But there is something that worries me.

It's almost 2006 :erg: Is your mission still planned for release this year?
Eshaktaar on 28/11/2005 at 18:49
Thank you, Phantom, your comments are very much appreciated. :)
As for the release date of the sequel (which will go by the name of Broken Triad), I think I should've said "when it's done" from the beginning. My first prediction was thwarted when I had to split up the mission into two.
I should have more time to spend on DromEd now than I had during the past few weeks. Some parts of mission two need to be overhauled, and there's a couple of custom AIs I have to make. A release date still this year sounds rather optimistic to me, but I'll see what I can do.

Don't rush it, Eshaktaar. If the new missions are anything at all like Ominous Bequest, they'll be well worth waiting for. :)

Hear hear. Second week in January will be fine.

Okay, just finished Ominous Bequest for the first time (expert). I played it once in 2003 and once in 2004 but never finished it... until now. One of the best I've ever played. I liked all the little touches like the friendly crowd voices at the exit. Only found 6 secrets and 7400 loot, but I did get both optional objectives.
