Hi all.
I missed the 2nd and 4th part of the diary. Who can help me?
I read here that the 4th part is under a empty box in an attic, but I can't find it
Nevermind. I found'em.
You need to find Benny in order to pick up the fourth part of the diary. And I missed that passage for all the mission. You have to use the rope arrow in the secret passage near the entrance, the one you use to reach the captain's quarter, but you have to go to the opposite direction after you climb up your rope.
After a two year break from Thief, I decided to give it another go and see what I've missed. This is the first FM I tried and I was absolutely blown away by it. Congratulations Eshaktaar, this is truly a classic. I couldn't stop playing and stayed up late to 'finish' it, and then even later so that I could see the conclusion of this great story. I'm eagerly anticipating the sequel.
Just one question, what was significance of the hammerite skull in the vault. Once upon throwing it, it began to float and attack me. At another time it merely hit the ground and did not come to life.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The skull is fragile and breaks (= wakes up) when it hits the ground/wall with a certain speed. As for why there's an impaled hammerite skull in the basement, the sequel will shed some light on this.

THE SEQUEL? I've been out of the loop for awhile, but that's the best news I've heard for Thief in a long time. Unbelieveable mission. I guess this is the second OB thread I've posted in, but I'm absolutely gushing here. You have restored my love of Thief.

Welcome back ;) It is a great FM. The story just sucks you in and keeps you moving. I've played it multiple times and enjoy it each time.
The sequel: now known as Broken Triad is discussed (

I'm stuck. I've done everything on my objectives list except for the loot requirement (I don't collect loot unless the person who owns it is obviously evil), but the plot clearly is not close to complete. So I've consulted a walkthrough, which says I am to go into the sewers and up two ladders. The only ladders in the sewers are the way out and another leading to a dead end portcullis. Is there something I'm missing about this porcullis, or am I supposed to meet my loot requirement for it to open?
that portcullis won't open until every other objective is met, yeah.
Absolutely ace mission this! I must say, it's the best FM I've ever played. It very nearly made me give up the one I'm working on as I thought "I can't do anything half as good!" Then I realised that half as good as this is still damn good, so that's ok. :laff:

I agree, it's probably the best one I've ever played (though not necessarily my favorite). It's as well done as the original games, and nearly as complete! Indeed, there is as much story packed into this one mission as there is in the first half of Thief: The Dark Project.
But what really fills me with gratitude to Eshaktaar isn't just that it's a great mission, but that it terrifies me. I had thought that I was no longer capable of being terrified by Thief since I was so accustomed to it. It turns out that the reason I haven't been completely spooked by Thief for a long time is that I've been so accustomed to the original missions, not the game itself. Eshaktaar has proven to me that the game has every bit of its potential scariness still. It just needs new missions - well designed missions - to use it.
So far, the spookiest thing hasn't been the crypts, as I would have expected, but rather the boarded up room. The first few times you pass it you don't notice anything too wierd. The next few times you notice the noises. Soon you start to feel uncomfortable around it, and now I simply can't go near it at all, even after I found out the secret. I have to use the other hallway. The surprise in the
vault
was also completely original and made me jump out of my chair. That was almost the last place I would have expected something scary, although the associated statue should have given me a hint.

I know that I am probably the 1000th guy who says that this FM is damn great, but I just have to say something about it... great!!!! Its my favorite though i didn't play that many FMs until now. Can't wait to play the sequel!!!
