I've never sucked so bad at any mission. So far I've
* Failed to find the vault. I understood that getting access to it had something to do with those pictures in the elevator shaft. I even fired a fire arrow at the correct picture but I figured the rest of the riddle had something to do with the sponge I found in the greenhouse.
* Failed to figure out the puzzle with the eight switches despite having found the note about it. Solved it by randomly slipping switches.
* Failed to see the opening in the ceiling of the hidden room next to the cloakroom by the kitchen.
* Failed to find the switch in the observatory.
* Failed to find the hatch in the entrance hall.
I managed to complete all objectives with the help of the walkthrough. Now all what's left to do is to find the hidden exit to the sewer. (At least I think so.) I found a note in the Captain's quarters about it. There is a hatch in the area of the catacombs where Farrington's empty tomb is but I can't find a switch nearby. Walkthrough says "Rope up to the ventilation shaft and go into the sewers". What am I supposed to do?
Mission is awesome by the way. I just wish I wouldn't need the walkthrough or additional help.

The ventilation shaft switch is in a generator room opposite the "boarded" enterance to where the tower type thing is. As you first enter the catacombs from the hammerite temple, turn right. It's the first door on the right

And oh, by the way, although you think you're about done with the mission - you're barely halfway through! That's one of the many great things about this mission. :cheeky:

Thanks for the hint oneof4. :D
And I'm barely halfway through? Wow, now I really want to know what lies ahead.

Finished it. What a great mission!
Minor criticism: There are a lot of hidden switches and one hard to spot opening in the ceiling. I think it's a bad idea to make the player search for these without at least including a hint on where they are. The only thing it does is make the player resort to walkthroughs and/or utterly tedious pixel-hunting.

Great mission!
I believe I'm nearly done now. I'm at the point where
Kadar is trying to resurrect Elizabeth and there is a forcefield that won't allow me back into the chapel. I've made my way back to the sewers and am trying to get back into the mansion so I can reach the chapel. But I'm stuck. How can I get back into the burrick area (where I had to blow the horn), since I can't get back up the shaft that I jumped down when I blew the horn?
Thanks

I wish I could remember enough to help you Hidden Thief. Are you sure the answer isn't already in the thread as I'm sure I got stuck in the same place. No doubt Nightwalker will be along soon - she knows everything!
But with the next one coming out in the not too distant future, I feel inspired to play it again. Considering I don't like creepy, this has always been an absolute favourite. And just while I'm downloading I noted that in nearly 4 years there have been a staggering 3320 downloads on thiefmissions.com alone. Testament to how good it is.

I think that Ominous Bequest is the single best fan mission I've played.
Thank You : )

Hidden Thief:
In the room with the (empty) sarcophagus, there is a vent that you need to use a rope arrow to reach. You probably went up there before to reach the sewers?
A passageway has now opened there.
Thank you Nameless Voice - I can't believe I didn't think to look there.
Just finished this mission - it's fantastic. I've missed so much loot! And I thought I'd done pretty well. Lol.
I'm new to fan missions and have only played a few, but this is an amazing single mission. As for campaigns - KotP  !!
Cheers guys. Bring on the Thief fan missions!
