Is there another way out of that area? Yes, I know I can kill him, but I'm working on a ghost, and I don't want to blow it.
NO. Sorry. Just run past the zombie quickly and imagine that it never saw you. :p
He he... I should have listened to your advice, Nightwalker! :p

If Nightwalker's advise was "get Dafydd to betatest it for ghostability," then yeah, you shoulda!
(Actually, I was in Maine on a business trip, but Peter Smith would have been perfect to ghostatest this or any other mission. That is, if you can't get
moi :eww: !)

I wonder, if you got the zombie to turn its back to where Dafydd was coming from every now and then, would that pretty much make at least that part of the mission ghostable?

Yup, and that's exactly what I would have suggested, had I beta-tested the mission: the zombie stares straight ahead for like 50 seconds, then turns its back for ten -- just enough time to dart across... that is, assuming one had the foresight to plant a moss arrow to cover the scrunchy noise.
Or else make the lights flicker, as in the room with the busted roof and the broadheads stuck in the ground does. Same idea, really.

Well, it's not that serious, or is it? :p
When I built this mission, I certainly didn't have ghosting in my mind. I just tried to make a mission that is fun to play. That zombie is placed like that on purpose, by the way. Not to annoy all the ghosters of course, I just forgot that someone wouldn't like it. So yes, it might be unghostable on that difficulty level, but I don't see it as a big problem. You can't miss the
screaming ghost down in the catacombs either or the corpse that falls from the sky and breaks the window (or can you?). And besides, you have to kill Dacorault, surely that makes the mission unghostable as well.
Ghosting might be an interesting and fun challenge for better players, but those players shouldn't take it so seriously. Just do what you can, and if it's not possible to complete the whole mission by ghosting, you just have to accept it - it's not the end of the world after all. :)

None of my previous FM's were "Ghostable" but my Museum certainly will be. I know there's lots of players out there who like to go through FM's unseen and un-noticed, so i have those players in mind too. Afterall, it's what Thief's all about. Us FM creators have to think about everybody these days. It's alot of work for sure but when you get players who have "Ghosted" your mission coming along to comment on it, it makes it all worth it. It's definately worth doing. Players can then choose thier own way through the mission. I have everyone in mind now when i'm making my FM's. :D
Maybe you'll make your next FM "Ghostable" Tomi? By the sound's of it, this very nearly is! :thumb:
Strange me saying this actually, 'cus i'm always a mass murderer when playing FM's myself! :ebil:

i got the tome of nacromancy from a hidden location in the liberary .....
now what to do with that and how to complete the mission

The book only fulfils an objective - you don't have to do anything with it. When all other objectives are ticked off, get back to the place where you started.

Oops, a bit late reply here. (also a good excuse to bring this thread back to the top, hehe!) :cheeky:
I was aware of the ghosting thing before I released Profane Ascension, and I left some parts of it unghostable for a reason. I don't know all the rules of ghosting to be honest, but surely I would have had to change the main objective (assault the bad guy) too so that the mission could have been ghostable? I just didn't want to make any big changes like that. There are other unghostable places too, mostly scripted events... for example when this window breaks. I don't think you can get past that point without breaking it... and then there's the zombie in the cave where you have to find the golden skull - ok, I could have turned it around so that it doesn't see the player, but its main purpose is to attack the player and scare the hell out of him when he thinks that he's completely safe. :ebil:
There will be some scripted events in my next FM too, and to be honest, I'm not trying to make it ghostable. Of course I try to think of everyone when creating those missions, but if I get some fun idea that ruins the missions for ghosters, I won't hesitate to use that.
You can't always please everyone... ;)

If I'm not mistaken, busting a ghost is okay if an objective requires it, but as far as I'm concerned, undead missions shouldn't be ghosted. It's no fun for me anyways, especially knowing I can kill anything I want to. :ebil: I may have made it through Thief 2 dealing only 1 damage, but there's hardly any undead in it, and it was easy to stop myself from killing them. If I see a haunt or zombie in Thief 1, they're dead. Plain and simple. I loved this mission, and I loved Deadly Darkness too, since I could go on a killing spree in both. :thumb: Ghosters might be grumpy, but I had a blast, and numerous heart attacks, and I honestly thought I wouldn't ever be severely scared in a game ever again, much less Thief 2. :thumb:
