It's very easy if you just lean forward more often than you probably do

Yeah, dangit, I've had Alt+W bound as my Lean Forward setup and I think I've used it 3 times in 2 years. I keep forgetting {/slaps self on forehead}.

I lean forward so often that I set it to one key alone, "Y" (my general movement is an E,S,D,F setup, one to the right of the typical W,A,S,D setup, so that I can use Q and A for zoom in and zoom out, and my left hand is that much closer to all the weapons (especially 7 and 8)

Lean Forward is infinitely useful, especially for blackjacking!!

I just wanted to compliment the author for the remarkable "Ranstall Keep". I've been wanting to say something about it going on a year or so now, but just never had the time.
I've played both the original and Thief2 versions, with the second obviously being my favorite. Being an artist, I loved the imaginative idea of making everything B&W, and creating a female thief specifically for the board was a stroke of genius. It was genuinely atmospheric and I enjoyed it immensely.

*looking embarressed* Thank you

Let me second that.
I've played this mission (between it's two versions) to completeness five times ... more than any other FM.
It's one of the very best FM's ever made ... my thanks to the author for his hard work.

I think that some people love this mission and some hate it for the same thing. Atmosphere.
From the beginning this level does not feel like Thief. What it feels like to me is something Hitchcock might have come up with had he been making computer games. From the enemies to the style of the village, with it's lives which have just suddenly stopped, to the black&white presentation and the healthy chunk of gore and zombies hidden in the keep.
I did like the way so many people told us about the hammers having gone to confront the lord...
I don't think this level could have worked in a Thief setting, and I'm glad that it doesn't try. It's much better as a damn good work of horror.

Well said, Ekim! I second that. I've played through this mission a number of times and I've always thought that it has been consistently under-rated. Everyone raves about Bloodstone Prison (not to put it down, because I think it's great, too!)but Ranstall Keeps doesn't get mentioned nearly as often. I love the atmosphere, the black and white, old horror movie feel that it has. It always has been and always will remain one of my favourite undead missions. Thanks, Dashjianta, for a great Thiefing experience.

Was just wondering where the Blackjack is, I don't need accurate directions, I'm just wondering if the Blackjack is underground or in the town?
