What happens if you look straight down and release the ladder?
Does it appear horizontally? I might make a great impromptu bridge.

Yes, actually, it releases in whichever direction you're facing!!

I've got all the objectives (so far!) ticked off except for finding the magical stone. I've been all over this place, killed or knocked out everybody --
(except for the four spooks in their glass cages who appear when you remove the piece of stone from the pedestal).
I thought that one might be it, but it doesn't trigger the objective.
Do you remember where it is?
Thanks,

Of course I do! :cheeky:
In the room with the "spooks in the floor" where you found a stone, did you check out the ceiling light above the pedestal?
Found it.
Stuck to the upside-down mini altar on the ceiling. Didn't even have to materialize the other ghost-magicians.
You said in another thread that you can do something that will trigger an objective to kill the Lord of the Keep... what do you have to do to trigger that? I finished the FM, but I have quite a few saves and can go back.

Yeesh. Right after posting, I went back there and saw it. Before I read your post. As usual!
So what about that objective to kill the lord of the manor... how do I get that objective?

I think it's triggered by reading the book that's around behind the big staircase in the front foyer. I'm not absolutely positive about that though.

It didn't trigger an objective to kill or stop the lord of the manor, just to find out what his plans were.
Which was satisfied by reading the book in his bedroom.
You're right. I went and checked all my saves and I never had an objective to kill him in either the T2 version or the T1 version, so I don't know if it exists and I never triggered it or if it's not really part of the mission. Maybe someone else can say for sure?

According to GOALS.STR there's nothing about killing anyone.
Interestingly enough, there's a GOALS.STR for a nonexistant miss19 that reads:
fiction_0: "You be fief. You mutht steal!."
text_0: "Gimmie Loot!"
The bonus round, perhaps?
