i'm replaying all my fave missions and this one ranks up there....

but i have a problem:

[SPOILER]i've gotten sarah thru the portal to the stone circle and i have the golden skull, but i don't know what to do with them now. there's a big metal gate barring my way through a stone archway and i can't get it to open. did i miss something???????[/SPOILER]

Also enjoying replaying this, but I have found that when you come up from the Prison, occasionally the [SPOILER]gas arrow that puts out the mech guard will knock him out but remain intact hanging inthe air.[/SPOILER]

I can then pick it up. It continues to behave in the same way, enabling me to fire it and retrieve it again and again! Makes the level a bit easy....:ebil: .

I am quoting this because it is the highest loot score I´ve seen in this thread, and it is also where I´m at after a very thorough loot hunt (the saved games are almost 8 hours in...). Is there anyone out there who has found it all? Or maybe not all is obtainable?

I really love this mission, and I have to comment on two things:

The Mechanist projectile spell is just what the doctor ordered if you want to destroy combat bots and cameras. It does a really good number on them. Just awesome! The spell seems to be useless against treebeasts, though.

This playthrough, Sara actually lost the big battle. The fact that I had not knocked out the four archers on the upper ledge probably had something to do with it. When the dust settled, all four archers (one had actually fallen down from the ledge in all the commotion) had survived, along with two sword guards, a skeleton and a burrick. Sara´s corpse had teleported up to the ledge with the archers.

I know the sword is supposed to be in the crypt in the basement but I can't find the basement. I have completed everything else except the Sarah thing. I just need to find the basement.:confused:

You need to go back to the prison area you started in. You left the cell block via a door to the right that lead to a small room with a prison log, etc..
Continue through the door straight ahead instead.

You get back to this part from the forest clearing, via an underwater tunnel (at the end of the water tunnel, there is a switch that opens the grate you may have seen in the sewers).

How do I get back to the prison? When I backtrack I get to the area that I transported to with the gate where you have to shoot an arrow to open. I can open the gate but get no further - is there another way to get back?

is it possible to free Sara and John? Or any of the other prisoners?
