So does that mean that killing someone before that point will fail the mission, but killing someone after that won't?

Just tested it. Yes, that appears to be true. The objective doesn't get failed because it gets cancelled instead at the end. I imagine Garrett plans to do the job with discretion, but has no idea there's going to be a battle at the end- at which point his #1 priority is to escape with his life.

Ok, that makes sense. I guess it just disappoints me to see an objective failed because of something that wasn't my own doing.
Anyway, I did finish the mission, even though I had to resort to a lootlist to fulfill that objective on Expert. :)

No worries, a cancel is not a fail. It's a Thief dev team original mechanism to say, "never mind". i.g. If the story says to escort someone to a manor, but they die per the story, you don't have to escort them anymore, and the objective will be shown as a cancel, not a fail.

Thank you for the great mission!!!

Great mission overall, the art design and custom stuff was amazing! I needed a guide because (at least on expert) some of the items were very hard to find, still had a lot of fun with this mission.
Especially the tomb at the end and the fight afterwards really stood out to me. :)

Wow this is the coolest mission I played all year  I can't believe I'm still finding unplayed missions like these after all these years. This felt like a commercial mission in the good sense of the word, with high production value. This should have been the Nu Thief or Thi4f :laff:

Where can i find the Gear for the crypts?
...and where is it on Normal or Hard?
baeuchlein on 16/4/2024 at 21:59
The area where the gear would be used does not exist on Normal, so that's most likely why the gear itself does not exist on that difficulty either. DromEd showed that the gear is also not present on Hard, so I assume the area to use it is missing as well, although I didn't check that anymore.
The area where the gear is meant to be used is near a large Hammer icon inside the haunted part of the crypt. It is not far from a closed wooden gate that cannot be opened (as far as I know). Some machinery on a wall has the gear missing. If you instead just try to access the crypt, either by the door in the sewers near the beginning, or by the iron grate found in the cellar of the Hammerite compound, then you need a "Crypt key" instead. One of these is available after you witnessed a conversation between two sewer workers in the sewer area. I do not remember where I found another copy of that key, but there are at least two on either Normal or Expert (or both).
